Smallville – S10E05 – Isis

Tonight's episode – Isis

Let's keep those good feeling rolling from last week's episode. I don't want to jinx anything, but Smallville hasn't had a clunker yet which is a minor miracle with this show's history of one-great-episode-followed-by-one-bad-episode history.

As always, I look forward to your thoughts, opinions, gripes, live-blogging, etc., but since it's Friday night it will probably most likely be post-show analysis.

  2. this is like the fifth time this has happened

  3. and possesed in 14 minutes into the show.

  4. OMG he finally told her!

  5. But damn time. I was hoping they wouldn’t drag it out all season.

  6. For a minute there I thought they were going to drag it out for a while longer, but am so glad he finally told her. i thought Kat was funny in this ep as well, and man oh man did Lois look hot in that outfit!

  7. About half way through watching in the west. I just have to say even Lois is flying around now. Clark is such a loser.

oh, and Cat Grant is an idiot.

  8. Dagger of Teth-Adam…..awesome.

  9. @okamido: I thought that excact same thing, when I saw the name I freaked…BIG BLACK ADAM FAN!

  10. Also really cheesy ending….but I loved it!

  11. Erica Durance = yum.

  12. Is anyone else bothered by the fact that they introduced a spiffy new action jacket for Clark and then never actually have him wear it for action? Cause it bugs the hell out of me. Seems like they manage to get Ollie in his green jeans every chance they get.

  13. " It’s just another Friday night in Metropolis! "

  14. Honestly, I don’t feel like it was a good episode, but that last five minutes made up for it. It was kinda dull for me, kinda like that ep in season 8 when lana became the phoenix. eww. Lois in the first scene, I was like "OHMIGOD you totally fooled me! she’s really talking to clark! that’s the only explanation" oh wait, no i wasn’t. and man tess is just, eww, hanging out with the crew, with the need to make her relevant to the story. and now she’s a mother? gross.

But, man that Cat Grant girl is a pretty cool cat. I would love to watch a show where she runs around Metropolis as a reporter busting perps, yeah. I think I’m smitten.

I was waiting for some teth-adam reference to show up. I was a little weirded out by the isis/osiris union since all i know about them is from the dcu proper where they’re brother and sister. but hey, incest is relative.

"Are you here to pitch the follow-up to your last piece about the problematic skrull population?" Wrong universe, dudes.

@rakaider- I’m also hoping clark busts out his new threads for some gangster banging/perp bashing soon!

  15. Isis in myth was the Sister and wife of Osiris.  Just so you know that their relationship was always creepy.  🙂

Good episode with a few clunky moments.  Thank god they fired the trigger at the end.  I wasn’t looking forward to more mooning around, and it being the last series I want to see some of the dynamic where they both know.

  16. hey that his dramatic posing jacket!!! it not meant for action!!!!

  17. Well look at Lois, She’s a Goa’uld.

  18. @matrix- She says  problematic Squirrel population, not skrull.

  19. I loved the ending.  Durance and Welling have incredible chemistry and the show really shines when it actually makes use of that chemistry.

  20. The first yawner of the season.

  21. if you ignore that beginning middle and most of the end it was a good episode!!!

  22. Pretty solid episode. This season is shaping up to be a great one. Normally Im not too big a fan of Tess but the scenes she had this week were pretty good. Especially the ones with Lil’ Luthor. That ginger bastard is gonna be trouble, just you wait.

@okamido: Agreed! When I read the label for the dagger I gave out an audible "Aha!" My wife looked at me as if to ask what the big deal was and just as I was about to open my mouth and explain the whole Marvel family she said "never mind" and went back to grading her papers. Bless her for putting up with my nerdy tendencies.

  23. Honestly, though, how dense can Clark be? I mean, to be surprised that Lois already knew at the end. For cryin’ out loud, she hasn’t exactly been subtle with dropping hints every five minutes that Clark should just tell her. Remember, what, the premiere even, when Lois was all "OH NO, I DROPPED MY PENCIL….UNDER THE TABLE…I’M GONNA GO LOOK FOR IT AND TOTALLY NOT NOTICE WHEN YOU SUPERSPEED TO THE FILING CABINET."

  24. the thing that gets me is he is now constantly using superspeed during normal conversations ending up on the other side of a room and nobody says anything.

  25. That, too. "Hey, anyone notice how there’s the occasional sudden breeze whenever Kent’s in the room?"

  26. Super flatulence.

  27. Episode was mediocre, but I liked the "I’m the blur" moment at the end. "What took you so long?", damn right Lois.

  28. I’m glad he finally told her but I can’t wait for him to get the "superman" name….I have always disliked "the blur" name, so I cant wait for it to be gone.

  29. Probably the most boring episode of the season, and it still was not groan inducing, so that’s a plus.  I do not know if it is the actress or the character, but I want Cat written off of the show as fast as possible.  The ‘I will never understand liberals’ line??  So poor.

  30. Not the best, but it did have "filler" episode written all over it.  I love Durance as Lois, but anytime she’s dressing up in a costume… its filler time.

That said, I didnt hate it, it was Silver Age type story, which Smallville does very well in a modern day way.  This filler was different though due to the ending.  Normally filler’s don’t push the story, this one ended with a HUGE PUSH!  I loved it!  We’ve all been waiting for it!  It was worthy.  Now lets move on with the rest of the season.  More Darksied please!  More DC characters!  Oh and ummm… make with the FLYING!  Put on that sweet ass jacket and fly to Metropolis from Smallville!

3 out of 5, maybe 3.5 for the ending reveal..
