SDCC 2011: VIDEO: Oa My Goodness! A GREEN LANTERN THE ANIMATED SERIES Preview

So the live action Green Lantern didn't win all the hearts and minds Warner Bros. would've liked, but green is the color of will power is it not? WB Animation is moving full steam ahead with Green Lantern: The Animated Series, a fully CG production for Cartoon Network. We've seen a teaser, but here's a brief clip from the show itself. If the simplistic visual style doesn't quite grab you, the voice cast might do the trick: Michael Clarke Duncan, Richard Green, Robert Englund and Josh Keaton all offer up performances.

Here's that clip from The Hollywood Reporter

Be it ever so humble…

Comments

  1. I’m not completely sold on the art style, but I’m willing to watch a couple eps to see if I can be won over. It sorta feels like Im watching a video game.

  2. I was fine with everything but the Hal Jordan design. Too barrel chested. I could get used to it though.

  3. I like it. I think the animation is a little too sterile but it’s fun and simple.

  4. I’ll watch it, don’t get me wrong. But Hal looked weird when flying. His pecs were too low or something – looked like he had a beer gut!

The styl eis pretty sparse. The characters sort of look like a combination of Lego people and the Justice League animated action figures. But it’s definitely better than no GL cartoon!

  5. Would rather have tradional 2d animation, but hey at least the acting/writing seems good. Not gonna lie, I laughed at this (in a good way).

  6. Terrible visual style, voice work was good. Hal looks like he’s about to fall over from being to top heavy

  7. I am not a fan of this animation style! Give me good ole fashion 2D animation.

  8. Not wild about the visual style. Liked the Guardians though.

  9. I’m surprised at how smooth the CGI is. Some of the shows I’ve seen seem a little slow.

The looks for Salaak and Kilowog are both a little weird to me, but not bad. I’m sure they’ll grow on me. Everything else looks great.

I loved Hal’s answer to the Guardians’ questions. I’m super excited for the show!

  10. The still frame on the video…before you hit play…. Hal’s sporting an oddly shaped gut, rather then a barrel chest.

  11. @kennyg  sorry man, just now noticed you made almost exactly the same comment!

  12. I guess they’re going for that Incredibles/Star Wars Clone Wars look. I’m open minded and will definitely check out a few episodes.
