Incredible Hulk by Jason Aaron & Marc Silvestri

In October Jason Aaron explores the newly unWorthy Hulk as he takes the helm of Incredible Hulk

Marvel Architect Jason Aaron joins forces with legendary artist Marc Silvestri to redefine the Hulk in an all new ongoing series. You’ve seen the Hulk in space, you’ve seen the Hulk go to war and you’ve seen him as one of the Worthy—but now it’s time for most unpredictable, incredible Hulk story yet!

After the events of Fear Itself, the Hulk has gone into hiding, seemingly safe from a world that hates and fears him. But when government agents comes knocking at his door, the Hulk has no choice but to return to war against the one man whose existence threatens the safety of every living creature on the Earth. The one man who’s existence could doom the Hulk himself.

And that man is Bruce Banner.

Now separated into two men, the Hulk and Banner exist worlds apart but one climactic battle will bring them face to face again—and leave the Marvel Universe shaking in its wake.

Comments

  1. Well, I’m going to be getting Inc. Hulk again after a 4 year stint.

  2. *absence*

  3. I’m on for all these books.

  4. I’ve never read hulk, but I like Aaron.

Same for Dodson. I’ll try both of these.

  5. Finally, Aaron writes a charactrer I have a natural affinity for. Not that I haven’t read some of the other stuff. Silvestri should be a great artist if he can keep up his pace. Don’t care about the Fear Itself related mess at all.

  6. Defenders is one of the few weaknesses of mine. I don’t usually buy anything unless I dig on the writer . . . Defenders I sometimes break that rule.

Luckily, I get a cool team of characters and an excellent writer for this series.

    I’m very excited.

  7. Defenders! I’m in despite being Tepid on Fraction the past year.

  8. I don’t care about Defenders. I do care about Fraction and especially his Iron fist. Putting Dodson on the title just makes it more appealing.

  9. Defenders looks really intresting. I’m glad Doson is getting more work, but I can’t say I’ve been enjoying Matt Fraction’s recent work.

  10. Hulk and Defenders look interesting.

  11. Hulk smash ya

  12. I do like Jason Aaron on Hulk. Though I dislike that one of the new villains for the defenders is “Ebony Hulk”. Seriously? Another one?

  13. Jason Aaron on the Incredible Hulk.  I’m getting down on my knees with lips pressed against the filthy ground to thank the comic book gods.

  14. Hulk is the strongest one there is!

  15. Yawn-a-rooney!

More Fraction crap, more Aaron crap, and Silvestri will be inked probably by 5 different people (like recently) and the art won’t be as good.

Marvel really isn’t doing anything for me in SDCC or in general lately. They don’t hype the actual good books (like FF or Journey Into Myster) and keep giving these ‘Arcitects’ stories I could give a crap about.

You telling me i’m gonna be buying two Hulk titles by the end of 2011? Wild. Wild.

  17. LOVE the Defenders. Favorite marvel team ever. Love the concept of the Un-team!!!!

Also love aaron. Exxcited to see his Hulk plans.

  18. Very interested in Aaron’s Hulk. Unusual choice for Hulk I’d say, but looking forward to it!

  19. Count me in for Defenders and Incredible Hulk.  Looks fun.  Defenders hits my Iron Fist and Doctor Strange weak spots.

  20. Wait, Banner and Hulk are separate? Since when?

  21. Avatar photo Paul Montgomery (@fuzzytypewriter) says:

    @WilliamKScurryJr  It hasn’t happened yet.

  22. @TimmyWood  The Defenders is like porn to me. Everything I love about Marvel comics is in that series. teammates who don’t get along, wacky characters, bizarre villains, stories that span all kinds of universes, it was one of my favorite “fun” comics back in the day. If the Headmen or the Elf With a Gun show up, I may freak!

  23. @TheNextChampion  What is it about the “Architects” campaign that has brought out such violent negativity in you every time you see the word? Were you beaten with a copy of the Fountainhead as a child?

  24. Avatar photo Paul Montgomery (@fuzzytypewriter) says:

    *chortle*

  25. @JohnVFerrigno  *sniff* Ayn Rand used to come to my room at night and hit me with wire hangers.

….Wait I’m thinking of the movie Mommie Dearest.

  26. Yes!Defenders are back! Namor,Silver Surfer,Iron Fist how is this non-team even going to work together? Should be a fun ride!

  27. Im confused is this going to be the relaunch of the Incredible Hulk title?  So the other Hulk title will still be seperate?? Could someone fill me in on this..

Anyways count me in regardles Jason Aaron at this point can do no wrong to me and id be willing to pick up any title he is writing which makes me picking up the hulk for the first time in a long time that much more enjoyable

  28. Avatar photo Paul Montgomery (@fuzzytypewriter) says:

@Neeks I believe it’s Incredible Hulk volume 3. Hulk will continue with Jeff Parker.

  29. @PraxJarvin  I’m totally with you.  Fraction has lost my interest with Iron Man and Fear Itself this year.  His only tepid success has been The Mighty Thor.  But you already knew that.

  30. I’ve been waiting for more fraction writing iron fist, the fact that i get the defenders with it is very cool.

  31. I haven’t had an interest to read a Hulk book in over a decade, but put Aaron’s name on a book and I’m there.  The story sounds great and the art is gorgeous.  Can’t wait to read this.

  32. I will give Hulk a try for the first time since 1978.  Love Jason Aaron.

  33. Thanks for the info paul!

  34. Aaron & Silvestri……YES, PLEASE!!!

  35. I was actually pretty excited when these Defenders teaser adverts started appearing in books. I actually like the cast.

But I won’t be buying this book.

And I won’t be because of Matt Fraction. Through Uncanny X-Men, Thor and Fear Itself Fraction has disappointed time after time. He talk the talk in interviews, hypes the books in person a cons, paints this brilliant Epic picture of what he’s going to do.

And then utterly fails to deliver the concept in panel.

It’s easy to see how he talks the editors into giving him the chance to tell these stories, because he’s great at publicity. But the concepts he hypes are clearly that little bit beyond him when he comes to writing a number of his stories.

I fear this will be more of the same. And so I won’t be picking this up.

  36. I actually feel I’m being a little harsh with that loast comment. But genuinely I’ve bought a lot of Fraction books these past two yerars, hoping to see improvement. It hasn’t really come. So I’ve decided to vote with my wallet, so to speak.

  37. I don’t feel overly excited by either announcement.  I’m not sure I’m interested in reading Banner seperate from Hulk story.  I’ll wait and see on that one.  The Defenders could be cool, but I question Dodson on the title.  I wonder if they’ll be able to deliver a monthly title depsite whatever lead time they’ve had.

  38. @theswordisdrawn  Your opinion on fraction echoes what a lot of other people have said about him (only you put far more thought into it than “he sucks,” which is what most people say.) It’s always weird for me to hear everyone say this about him, because my ONLY exposure to Fraction has been his run on Invincible Iron Man. Iron Man is my favorite super hero, and I have read a LOT of his comics over the years, and Fraction has had probably my 2nd favorite run on the title ever. But every other book he writes doesn’t interest me (I’m not counting Iron Fist, as he wrote that with somebody else [Brubaker? I don’t remember.]) So I have no real basis on which to judge his other work. All I know is the majority of people on this site who read those books seem to think they fall short. I’m very curious to read defenders and see if Fraction can deliver for me on a second title, as he is finally writing one I want to read.

  39. Can’t wait, I loved Planet Hulk (and The Incredible Herc), not the biggest fan of World War Hulk (but was okayish) and only read 1/3rd of the relaunched HULK, this sounds like fun, Hulk by Jason Aaron and Marc Silvestri, damn if they aren’t some fine craftsmen 🙂

  40. I don’t think Fraction is suited to writng large scale super heroes.
    I think he’s a good writer and he’s got a marketable personality
But there’s something to writing iconic characters at that scale that
I don’t think he really believes in.  I think yes he is a fan but when
he sits down to write them he feels an almost pathological need to deconstrcut them
and reconstitute them in what he feels is a “real world” context
Sounds great right?  It isn’t.  Not the way he handles it.

  41. The overdone veins on Hulk remind me of the 1st cover to the new Animal Man series.

  42. I’m quite impressed by both Dodson’s and Silvestri’s art.  Also, I have a soft spot for the Defenders, but no Nighthawk or Hellcat?!?  For shame!

  43. So is that another new costume for Iron Fist debuting in Defenders?

  44. Im not getting Defenders. I don’t much like the concept of the non-team, red she-hulk, or Matt Fraction due to his writing Fear Itself, perhaps the worst crossover I’ve ever read. however, I’ll give incredible hulk a shot. I’m by no means a hulk fan but the art looks great and having banner separated from the hulk interests me.
