SDCC 2010: Grant Morrison Watches Cartoons, Comes Up with BATMAN INC.

Grant Morrison revealed another new Batman title during this afternoon's SDCC panel. According to Morrison, he tuned in to the Batman: Brave and the Bold cartoon, and came up with the idea for a Batman team book. Since The Brave and the Bold was already taken, he ultimately decided on Batman Inc

The new ongoing will be drawn by Yanick Paquette. DC hasn't released any art associated with Inc, but we do have these covers for Batman #703 and Batman and Robin #16, which lead into the upcoming Batman: The Return story.

Morrison claimed during the panel that the last time we saw Batman in RIP, he wasn't quite with it. Upon his Return, he'll reclaim his cowl and his faculties.

And apparently he'll make Dick ride Damian like he's a soap box derby car.

  1. I’d like to thank that soap box derby line for making me look like a cackling idiot in the break room.

  2. Grant Morrision on a monthly inspired by the cartoon Brave and the Bold? Oh, it is SO ON.

  3. First guest character: Ja Rule

  4. Batman and Constantine.

  5. Sounds awesome

  6. I know when they announced Finch’s book, I thought that there were too many bat books.  But this, oh mama, this I will definitely buy.

  7. VERY happy to hear that Morrison isn’t done with Batman.

  8. There is a God, and I thank him so very much!!!

  9. Well I will be picking up Morrison’s new book that’s for sure. If it’s in the same vein as ‘Brave and the Bold’ then how can you go wrong?

So that’s INC, and Batman & Robin so far for me. I would love to know if I’m going to pick up Detective if Snyder (and/or DC) could announce the artist already!

  10. Excited for Batman Inc

Im guessing teamups will include people like:
    Kate Kane
    Club of Heroes
    and maybe even the Outsiders

  11. This is going to suck.

  12. Oh, Dick riding Robin like that is pure Batman gold!

  13. There’s always room for another Batman book when it sounds this good.  Although I find it a little ironic that the least essential Batbook is BATMAN itself…

  14. Aw man! I watch cartoons all the time and I get nothing!

  15. Look if you can’t ride Damien like a soapbox car then he’s gotta go. it’s how Dick learned (in the story that I wrote in my mind!)
