SDCC 2010: Geoff Johns Brings Booster Gold and Blue Beetle to SMALLVILLE

Geoff Johns announced today that he'll be bringing Booster Gold and Blue Beetle (Jamie Reyes) to the tenth and final season of TV's Smallville. As in the past few seasons when he introduced the Legion of Superheroes and the JSA, Johns himself will script the special episode.

We've already seen test footage of a potential Blue Beetle television series, so we can look to that for hints on DC's live action approach.

As rumored, Darkseid will serve as the series' final villain, though his Fourth World origin may need to be tweaked to fit into existing continuity. At today's SDCC panel, a season ten teaser was shown, offering a quick glimpse at Clark's final Superman costume. We'll be getting some red and blue, and reportedly, Lois even refers to "Superman" by name.

It sounds like Smallville is going to go out in style. It certainly not a perfect show, but we've gotten some great moments over the past ten years, especially with Johns' involvement in the last two or three. And with his new position at DC and Warner Brothers, you gotta believe there's a lot more of this kind of thing headed our way in the years to come.

  4. My relationship with Smallville has been on-again/off-again from the start, but this tingles me slightly. And that picture of Johns is the very image of the phrase "pleased as punch".

  5. I swear Johns has been reading my journal. I cannot be more happy to hear this. The only way to sweeten this deal is if Skeets happans to pop up somewhere!

  6. @boomergirl It was mentioned at the panel that Skeets would indeed be Booster’s sidekick throughout the episode. So consider the deal sweetened 🙂
