SDCC 2010: Bendis to Write for Animated Ultimate Spider-Man, Peter David to Write for Young Justice

Two comics creators announced this weekend that they'll be writing for upcoming animated series.

With a cue from Marvel TV Head Jeph Loeb during yesterday's spotlight panel, Brian Michael Bendis announced that he'll be writing and producing for the upcoming Ultimate Spider-Man animated series. This is basically the extent of our knowledge on the subject, but I'm already crossing my fingers we'll get to hear the best voice in comics podcasting in the role of his namesake Principal Suintres.

Then in his blog post on the events of SDCC day three, Peter David announced that he'll be working on DC's Young Justice cartoon

"First, I neglected to mention yesterday that I attended the presentation of the “Young Justice” animated series. The audience reaction seems overwhelmingly positive, and I’m glad to hear it, because (and I am now free to mention it) I’m going to be writing several episodes for the series. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to reconnect with the characters, even if there are some differences between the guys I wrote and the new incarnation. I would love to tell you all about my first episode, but I’m afraid that it’s…oh, what’s the word…Secret."

I think we've got some must-watch cartoonage on our hands.

Comments

  1. Hmmm. This does somewhat allay my worries that the cartoon will be Young Justice in name only. But not completely.

But it will be good to see Secret again.

  2. Great news for animation from both comic companies.

  3. Awesome!!!

  4. Awesome all round!

  5. Looks like PAD lost some weight! He looks fabulous, and this is great cartoony news as well.

  6. Yes! Secret’s back!

  7. You had me at Secret. =)

  8. Shit just got serious!

I wasn’t sure about Young Justice as this looks more like Teen Titans than YJ but if David is in so am I. I still mourn the loss of the 90s DC heroes.

I still mourn the loss of Spectacular Spider-Man but this gives me a lot of hope.
