PREVIEW: Paul Cornell and Pete Woods on Action Comics #890

We're pretty excited that one of our favorite writers, Paul Cornell is getting a chance to play in the other toybox, starting with Action Comics #890.  The book hits stands on June 30, but here's a sneak peek at the issue.  As has been revealed, it's going to be a Lex Luthor story, rather than Superman, whom I've almost lost track of. I've gotta say, Pete Woods is looking really sharp on these pages.

  1. I’ve only been reading Supergirl this last year so I’m kinda lost. When did Lois and Lex become an item? I feel so lost, but this looks cool.

  2. Lex and Lois aren’t an item.  I’m not quite sure what her role is in this part of the book, but I’m sure that will be explained.

The issue certainly looks interesting, and I’m a fan of Cornell.  I just don’t know if I can handle another book financially though.  Maybe some cuts are in order…

  3. I’m not familiar with Cornell’s Marvel work (although I do like his Doctor Who stories), but this has definitely hooked me.

Very very very much looking forward to this.

  5. I gave up on the Superman books months ago but I will have to admit really liking the art from Pete Woods. I may have to give this one a show when it hits the stands.

  6. I’m excited to read this.  Very excited.  Here’s what I’m wondering though.. and yes, I know it’s a bit of a ways off..but.. how long will Cornell be on Action?  Is he the name that’s going to appear on 900?  Or will he have 899 and 901 with 900 being a collection of works?  Your nine-hundredth issue is sort of a big deal.

I know I’ll never forget my own 900th issue.

    *sigh*

  8. Tonight on a very special "Everyone Loves Pauley" – the 900th issue celebration.

  9. The way that Pete Woods is drawing Lex seems really inconsistent, I am definitely not going to pick this up.

  10. This is a million times better then the Pete Woods art I saw in his Superman work last year. I’m excited for Cornell’s run and this preview makes me even more excited.

  11. I didn’t love Woods’ art for in the recent Superman event, but this is looking much better to my fickle eyes.
