New Comics for 12/03/09 keep searching the skies for snow

Get to pulling this Thursday's books, and then let us know what you're looking forward to most, what you're dropping, what others should be buying and anything you're thinking. Be heard, because we need you, iFanbase!

What are the iFanboys buying? Check it out here – Conor, Ron, Josh and Gordon the Intern.

And what about the rest of the staff? What are they buying? Dave, Jim, Paul, Mike, and Sonia.

If you're a Vertigo fan this is your week. Unless you don't like to buy a lot of books, then this isn't your week. Personally, I'm most excited about Darwyn Cooke handling the art duties on Jonah Hex #50 (50!), Blackest Night: Wonder Woman (by Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott!) and Blackest Night: The Flash (naturally).

This week Josh has the Pick of the Week!

Bonus Question: Does it snow where you live? And if so, how much?

Comments

  1. Small week, but one of my books has a ton of content.

    Deadpool Team Up #898

Lobo: Highway to Hell #2 (there’s the qualifier)

    Sweet Tooth #4

BQ: It snows a good amount here, mainly in Philly. I think we had a foot of snow last year which was a pain in the ass.

  2. Blackest Night The Flash #1 (OF 3)
    Blackest Night Wonder Woman #1
    Jonah Hex #50
Lobo Highway To Hell #2 (OF 2)
    Mighty #11
Superman World Of New Krypton #10

BQ:  No snow and thanks to an extended summer no rain either.

  3. I think sweet tooth is the only thing on my list. I have 2 take another look but that may be it. . Which is a good thing, now i can read my Incognito & Chew TPB.

Bonus Q: Yes. the best part of Michigan is you get a taste of everything.

  4. Wow.  I only have one book this week.  Saddening.  But, it’s FLASH with Johns and Kolins, so now I feel better.

BQ: Oh yes.  Southern Ohio gets its fair share of snow.  Hopefully, the snows and blizzards come after the holidays.  I hate traveling in the snow.

  5. Marvels Project #4

    Siege: The Cabal

    Sweet Tooth #4

    Ultimate Spider-Man #5

BQ: Normally we’d have a lot of snow here in Michigan, but so far nothing this year.  It rained almost all day yesterday and I actually was upset it wasn’t a few degrees colder, then we’d finally have some.

  6. Light week, just Blackest night tie ins. JSA. STrange and What if (I can’t go past what if comics)

BQ: In December….never (I’m in Australia). At all, well in Canberra it has snowed three times in the last ten years of me living in this city.

  7. Johns and Kolins, can’t wait!

BQ: I live in California, away from the mountains.  I get all my snow in a cone.

  8. Looks like a pretty good week, I’m definitely getting the two Blackest Night tie ins, even if they utilize the same BN tie-in formula we’ve seen so far ("Oh my god, my dead teammate is back from the dead and is blaming me for his hardships!"). I enjoyed Rucka’s and Johns’ work on Wonder Woman and Flash (respectfully) so much that I just want these issues just to see them write the characters again, no matter what. Siege: Cabal sounds interesting, as Im always curious how the Marvel U. is evolving. Also, Im looking forward to Thor #604, and seeing how the book stands up post-JMS era. I think it’ll be just fine, even though I’m not too familiar with Gillen’s work.

BQ: We get snow occasionally here in NYC, but it has to snow pretty hard to take effect. Otherwise, the snow just melts on the asphalt.

  9. I’m excited for Blackest Night: Wonder Woman.. N. Scott pencils should be great for Wonder Woman!

BQ: We get snow every winter here in Spokane, Wa. Last season we had a total of 97 inches of snow, it was not fun! The first storm dropped for 18 hours straight and my shovel became my best friend….. Only an inch of snow this season, so far……..

  10. a nice light week for me filled with solid titles:

Blackest Night The Flash #1 (OF 3)

Jonah Hex #50 (Dont know if I’m gonna jump on, But I love me some Darwyn Cook)

    Scalped #33

    Strange #2 (OF 4)

Sweet Tooth #4 (This gets better and better each issue)

BQ: I live in New Jersey so Snow’s always in the cards but with the weather as wonky as its been as late I’d be surprised if we got any snow.

  11. Blackest Night The Flash #1 (OF 3)
Blackest Night Wonder Woman #1 (OF 3)
Cinderella From Fabletown With Love #2 (OF 6)
Dark Tower Battle Of Jericho Hill #1 (OF 5)
    Gi Joe #12
    Jack Of Fables #40
    Mighty #11
Superman World Of New Krypton #10 (OF 12)
    Sweet Tooth #4

BQ: We typically get one day of very light snow.  I built a pitiful Snowman last year.  He was half mud.

  12. The comics I’m getting this week are: Blackest Night: Flash, Superman:W.O.N.K., Savage Dragon, Ult Spider-Man, Sweet Tooth, Greek Street, Jonah Hex and I might pick up Batman:The Cat and The Bat TP or Crumb’s Book of Genesis.

BQ: Usually we get a nice amount of snow. But, last year we didn’t get a lot at all(I blame Al Gore).

  13. I seem to keep adding books to my pull list. This week I 2 new Blackest Night titles, 2 new avenger titles and, i dunno other stuff.

BQ: It snows here in Canberra once every couple of years. Winter in Canberra sucks, it drop below zero and is a windy as hell.

  14. Just Superman: WONK and Atom Eve and Rex Splode, even though I won’t read it until I get the next Invincible hardcover.

BQ: Supermoore, you’re in Spokane, too? What are the odds of that?

  15. More Blackest Night stuff to keep me happy, plus maybe some other stuff (I don’t really remember what I put on DCBS for this month).

BQ: I currently "live" in Lewiston, ME. Most of the time, we get lotsa snow (like, a lot)

  16. This Thursday’s books?  Not Wednesday?

  17. @finbarbat~ I believe comics are on Thursday because of the holiday last week…right?

A really nice week for me.  Looking forward to Blackest Night: Flash and Wonder Woman, Jonah Hex, The Sword, The Bat and the Cat TPB (Kevin Maguire!), and Scalped.

BQ: Supposedly.  I moved to Cleveland over the summer, and all I’ve been hearing about is how much snow we get.  We’ll see…

  18. Cinderella, Sweet Tooth, Scalped, House of Mystery, Dark Tower.  I am hoping Cinderella picks up as the first issue was a little too cliche and unsurprising.  I am most excited for Scalped – it vies with Fables, Secret Six, and Unwritten as my favorite book.

I will be dropping Thor as I have lost interest with JMS’s departure.

Chicago is nothing but snow…and no place to ski/snowboard.  Sweet paradox.

  19.  A lighter week then last, with a few new titles to try.

BQ: It snows more in one winter here then most of you see in a lifetime.  Cars get buried.  Houses get drifted over.  A certain survival instinct kicks in and you always need to be aware of which pieces of your furniture you can chop up and burn.

  20. I…apparently have no books coming in this week… That really saddens me.  Maybe I’ll have to pick something random up. Like that Empowered one-shot or something.

BQ: It snows here. I mean, I do live in Canada where we all live in igloos to protect ourselves from polar bears and flying hockey pucks (thank you Jim Carrey).  Actually doesn’t snow that much, though we are supposed to get 30cm by the end of the week (that’s 11.8 inches for people still using the strange imperial system).

  21. I was disappointed to realize that the Black Widow book has nothing to do with Paul Cornell, but I’m over it.

    SIEGE!!

BQ: St. Louis, MO is where weather goes when it dies with sin on its soul. If I can get the car out of my own driveway this time next month, I’ll call it a victory.

  22. Avatar photo PymSlap (@alaska_nebraska) says:

The Hmong are coming! The Hmong are coming, and it’s the best week since last week! I’m most excited to see what Kevin Maguire did all those months ago in "The Bat & The Cat" trade paperback. When I think of Spider-Man, I see a firgure from Mark Bagley, but David LaFuente is boldly doing his own thing in Ultimate Comics Spider-Man, and it’s fascinating.

BQ – Yeah, good question. I moved here from Alaska, where I believe the average snowfall is around 50 inches a year.

  23. This is a medium week for me so Nova is getting a pick up and possibly Guardians of the Galaxy from last week if my shop still has it.

  24. Excited for the blackest night tie-INS. Looking forward to ulitmate spider-man. Good relaxing week after last’s insane quantity. I can only hope it meets the same level of quality.

  25. comics this week are: blackest night the flash #1, Dark Avengers Annual #1, Jonah Hex #50, Nova #32, Siege Cabal and Sweet Tooth #4.

BQ: has never snow here in campbelltown, NSW, Australia but fingers crossed climate change changes that.

  26. I’d be surprised if Blackest Night The Flash#1 or Jonah Hex#50 aren’t the PotW.

  27. Mighty, Sweet Tooth, Echo (which probably won’t be in my shop until next week), and Marvels Project.

BQ: When it does, it’s just enough to coat the ground slightly.

  28. more Uncanny after only a week!

    Gillen launch on Thor!

    Marvels Project continues!

and Siege begins with awesome Lark art!

BQ: up here in N’Hamsha it snows as much as it likes.  and if you’re near a lake or in a river valley (or both) than there is no telling.

  29. 9 books this week. I can’t wait to read BN: Flash and Ultimate Spider-Man.

BQ: It doesn’t snow very often in Seattle, but we got alot last year. I’m hoping it snows alot this winter

  30. Only three this week!

    Ultimate Spider-man

    The Marvels Project and

    Blackest Night: Flash

    maybe BL: wonder woman

  31. I only have five books, but four of them are by three of the best writers in the business. Probably the most excited for Seige, though.

  32. BQ: It doesn’t naturally snow in L.A. and my father is thankful for that every year.

  33. BQ: Yes it snows here, I live 20 minutes or so from Detroit.  It snows too much because of the lakes.

  34. 12 books this week.. not bad..

and I’m with @kmob181.  I live in suburban Chicago and we have a saying here that we have only two seasons in Chicago.  Snow season and construction.  Sometimes they overlap.  Snow is the bane of my existence.. unless I have nothing to do..

  35. ugh! thursday! damn holidays!

  36. The Perfect Week = 6 books!!

    Blackest Night: The Flash

    Blackest Night: Wonder Woman

JSA All Stars – I’ll give it a shot for a few issues

    Mighty – LOVE THIS BOOK!

    Superman World of New Krypton

    Echo

BQ: Here in So. Calif. we view the snow from a distance. It’s the ideal. There’s a gorgeous white on top of the mountains that are an hour away if anyone is motivated. As is the beach…or the desert…take your choice this time of year.

  37. I’m most excited for that Empowered one-shot, the first Empowered issue published in conventional comic book format!

I just decided to pick up Blackest Night: Wonder Woman for a few reasons. Chief among them being Nicola Scott, but also because I really enjoyed Greg Rucka’s Wonder Woman run a few years ago.

Scalped and Haunt are two of my favorites, and I’m getting Invincible Presents: Atom Eve & Rex Splode mainly because I like the artwork even though I don’t get Invincible itself.

BQ: I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Not really.

  38. @DMaggot: The Empowered one-shot should make a good entry point if you’ve never picked up the book before.

  39. LA, so no snow.  Moved from NYC so…some snow.

  40. A sweet looking week with some slightly delayed excellence in the form of Scalped and Marvels Project.  Also picking up Jonah Hex because Darwyn is probably my favourite artist at the moment.  Plenty of other goodness, I count 15 books so I better tear through the last couple I have from last week…

BQ:  Ha, ha, ha…does it snow where I live?  Not for about 20 years!  Not properly anyway.  We probably get two or three snowy days a year here in Norfolk, England.  Even then it disappears faster than cash from my wallet in the comic store.  I miss it bloody terribly.

  41. Another monster 17 book week for me.

Blackest Night The Flash #1 (OF 3)

Blackest Night Wonder Woman #1 (OF 3)

Cinderella From Fabletown With Love #2 (OF 6)

    Dark Avengers Annual #1

    Fall Of Hulks Alpha

    Haunt #3

    Jonah Hex #50

    Jsa All Stars #1

    Nova #32

    Siege Cabal

    Strange #2 (OF 4)

Superman World Of New Krypton #10 (OF 12)

    Sweet Tooth #4

The Marvels Project #4 (OF 8)

    Thor #604

    Torch #4 (OF 8)

    Uncanny X-Men #518

Does Canada still get them this week on Wednesday? We didn’t have a holiday last week.

  42. Two books this week: Marvels Project and Glamourpuss.

BQ: Yeah, I live in New England (CT) so it snows quite a bit.

  43. BQ: not so much in southern Ohio as it used to.  Still welcome when it comes though:)

  44. weird week, didn’t know half of this was coming out so soon. especially the seige cabal one

BQ:it snowed last year for the first time since i was in 6th grade

  45. Blackest Night The Flash #1 (OF 3) Cinderella From Fabletown With Love #2 (OF 6) Dark Avengers Annual #1 Glamourpuss #10 Nova #32 Siege Cabal Sweet Tooth #4 The Marvels Project #4 (OF 8) Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #5

BQ: It hardly ever snows here in Portsmouth, England. Except last year when we had a couple of freaky days and I got to pretend I couldn’t get to work. Livin’ on easy street.

  46. Picking up 7 books tomorrow (assuming my shop has them all)–a big pull for me, definitely denting my booze fund for the week!  Aside from the new BN tie-ins, I’m really excited for The Ten #2.  Loved the first issue of this series, very different from anything else I’ve been reading, and hopefully this next issue continues to impress.

BQ:  I live in Northern Minnesota, a couple of hours south of Canada.  Yes, we get snow.  Lots and lots of it.  And as much as I hate it, I don’t quite hate it enough to move south.

  47. DAMMIT! I erroneously went to my LCS today!

Why can’t Diamond get their shipping straight? Thanksgiving was a week ago — by that logic, because they’re pushed back a day this week, next week should logically get pushed back to Thursday, as well. Why can Diamond hack a truncated work week some weeks, but not others?

  48. @william – crap, me too.

  49. Some people didn’t check iFanboy.com on Monday! 🙂

  50. BQ: I’ve lived in Michigan all of my life and it’s usually snowed and Iam sadly counting on it snowing boo hiss! After Christmas shopping for my family members maybe I will have enough to pick up the comic books I want to read very badly!
