Bonus Question: When was the last time you took a vacation (or holiday) and where did you go?

Comments

  1. Hello Everyone!!! I am new here so wassup?

Batman And Robin #12 Brightest Day #1 Red Robin #12 Secret Six #21 Sweet Tooth #9 Uncanny X-Men #524

    Nicaragua like two years ago…

  2. Great stuff this week.

Batman and Robin #12, Brightest Day #1, Hellboy in Mexico (or a Drunken Blur) #1, and Sweet Tooth #9.

BQ: Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. My (hopefully) new home.

  3. BQ: Chicago on C2E2 weekend. Real full vacation was Cuba last year.

  4. How sad that 18 books is considered a light week for me…  Being the DC nerd, I’m all about Brightest Day and Batman & Robin (although the fact that Quitely never returned to interiors really irks me).  Secret Six is gonna be killer this month too – literally!

BQ: I’m a Disney nerd, too, so my default vacation is WDW.  I’m pretty excited about this year’s trip though – Train trip from Chicago to San Francisco with a stopover at Yellowstone.

  5. even though its getting pooped on, i’m happy to see that Detective Comics has Batman at the center again. Some things are just supposed to go together.

  6. Big DC week this week – Brightest Day, Sweet Tooth, Batman & Robin, IZombie, Demo, Jonah Hex, Superman event. Plus a lot of non-big-two books as well – Buffy, Echo, Waid’s "I" books, a Hellboy book, The Boys — lots of cool stuff. Plus I’m hoping my LCS put aside the Marvel and DC books from FCBD – the first time I ever missed the event. I blame the in-laws and the incredible draw of Washington DC’s monuments.

BQ: Three years ago, for our fifth wedding anniversary, the missus and I went to Vegas and got remarried by an Elvis impersonator and I got my third tat. Last time I had time off was last December for my birthday week celebration – didn’t go anywhere or do anything important.  Yeah, I need to go somewhere soon.

  7. Amazing Spider-Man, Irredeemable, War of the Supermen, and, god help me, Spectacular Spider-Girl. I am very excited for the new Star Trek: Captain’s Log, and I was unimpressed with the preview for Izombie but I’ll get it for Mike Allred.

  8. My comics

BQ: On my birthday August 2009. I went to LA.

  9. *Looking forward to Glamourpuss, Izombie, Sweet Tooth, and KING CITY.

*Maybe this is a commentary on how sad my life currently is, but reading that issue of King City is probably the most fun I’ll have all week.

*Interested in seeing if Aaron’s Spider Man/Wolverine thing is any good.

*Any week with a Noto-drawn issue coming out should be savored.

BQ: Atlantic City for a long weekend to see a Steely Dan show about 2 or 3 years ago (I’m poor). I drank so many free rum and cokes that the only 2 things I remember from the whole trip is that A) Micheal Mcdonald, who opened for Steely Dan, is a fucking disgusting slob who looked like a flesh-toned Cookie Monster up there in front of his little keyboard and B) there were all these weird looking dudes all over the place up there which I just attributed to alcoholic hallucinations until Jersey Shore came on TV and then it all made sense.

  10. Sweet week for comics – Batman & Robin and Brightest Day alone are enough to make this a great week and now I see Hellboy, Red Robin, Uncanny X-Men, and Spider-Man/Wolverine are out as well.  Heck, even Izombie has potential to wow me.

BQ: Small trip made to Tennessee last year, but my last big trip was my honeymoon trip to Ireland.  And to truly understand how much of a nerd I am, I went to the Forbidden Planet store in Dublin twice.  My wife was ecstatic, of course…

  11. This month begins my great purge of comics.

By the end of this month, I will be down to only 10 ongoing titles and 2 mini series.

I think I was cracking 20-25 issues a month plus collected editions.

I need more reading time for things other than comics.

  12. This week is all about trying new things (and re-trying old ones). My first dip into the Hellboy world, Spidey/Wolvie and X-Men: Hellbound are all exciting new endeavors, and a great creative line up has drawn me to give ASM another shot. Also very excited for Red Robin, War of the Supermen and Thor and the Warriors Four, amongst others!

BQ: Boston, last week in March, for PAX. Super goddamn awesome!

  13. So many Spider-man books this week……I’m pulling: Amazing Spider-Man #630, Astonishing Spider-Man Wolverine #1, Batman And Robin #12, Many Loves Of Amazing Spider-Man #1, Spider-Man Fever #2, Uncanny X-Men #524, and X-Men Hellbound #1.

BQ: Hawaii for my honeymoon last June.

  14. ASM, Brightest Day, War of Supermen, Sweet Tooth and Ultimate New Ultimates.

BQ – Beginning of April I went and visited my sister in LA.  Took a few days and went to Disneyland.  I’ve been to WDW many, many times but this was my first trip to the one that started it all!

  15. Short week.. only 11 books. Batman and Robin, GI Joe Origins and Brightest Day top my list of what I’m looking forward to.  (Does that mean I couldn’t care less about the other 8 books… hrmm.)

BQ: Last real vacation was a family cruise on December 09.  4 days in the carribean.

  16. Brightest Day, B&R, Red Robin, Uncanny X-men, X-Men: Hellbound, I Zombie, Sweet Tooth

BQ: I went to Charlotte.  We’ve got family down there, so once a year the Northern family members all migrate down for a visit.  Luckily, my dad and uncle are into comics, so we always schedule it for the weekend that Heroescon is happening.  Doing it again this year.

  17. Amazing Spider-Man #630
    Astonishing Spider-Man and Wolverine #1
    Batman and Robin #12
    Brightest Day #1
    Demo vol 2 #4
Hellboy in Mexico or Drunken Blur

    Irredeemable #13
    iZombie #1
Many Loves of Amazing Spider-Man #1
    Sweet Tooth #9
    Ultimate Comics New Ultimates #2
    Uncanny X-Men #524

    Howard Chaykin’s Black Kiss HC

Took an extended weekend surrounding Valentine’s Day and went to Baltimore with my sweetie.

  18. @cubman987 – That’s where my fiance and I wanna go for our honeymoon! Any words of wisdom?

  19. Another week, another second coming chapter.  Can’t wait for Uncanny #524

  20. @cubman987 Avoid Oahu.  If you want a nice/quiet/peaceful honeymoon on a gorgeous island, spend most of your time on Kauai.  Far more laid back. plenty of good hiking.. lots of quiet beaches.  If you’re looking for something more touristy, head to Oahu.  The middle ground in Maui.  The bike tour up Haleakala on Maui is amazing.. the trip down is refreshing. 🙂

  21. BQ: Never been on a vacation.

  22. TOO many books this week I got to cut back, TransMet, WAR of the SuperMen, BATMAN AND ROBIN, redRobin, Secret six, Brightest day are all for sure on my pull list but there are more that I WANT!

BQ: LAST YEAR we went to SeaSide Heights NJ  GOOD TIME!

  23. @ActualButt:  Yes, try to do more than one island if you can….we went to Oahu and Maui….Oahu is where Honolulu, Wikiki Beach, and Pearl Harbor are and is really cool (expeically Pearl Harbor for me) but its like being in a touristy city….Maui is nothing but mountains and beach and is super awesome and laid back if you are into that kind of thing.  Also try to go to a couple different Luau’s…..they are a lot of fun and the food was amazing….we went through a travel agent and she helped us out a lot so thats another suggestion…oh and save up, its not cheap!!!

  24. Vegas last August… With no kids either! What a great 4 days that was.
    Great week for comics!

  25. Batman And Robin #12
    Brightest Day #1
    Izombie #1
    Jonah Hex #55
Realm Of Kings Son Of Hulk #4 (OF 4)

    Red Robin #12
Transmetropolitan Tp Vol 07 Spiders Thrash New Ed

As always I can’t wait to read the newest issue of Jonah Hex. I’m also thinking about dropping some bat books.

BQ: New Year’s I went to New Orleans to spend the Holidays with my brother. We scored free tickets to the Sugarbowl.

  26. I love Allred, I love zombies, and I love things for a dollar…guess which book I’m picking up.

Otherwise, I’m looking forward to Brightest Day #1 and to see where the story goes from there, and I’m also looking forward to Astonishing Spider-Man/Wolverine, asfor me, Jason Aaron = fun. Can’t forget about Batman & Robin, as well.

I’m also going to be trying that X-Men Second Coming spin-off, as I’ll see if this has that superflouous tie-in feel to it.

BQ: Last July I went to Florida, about an hour away from Orlando and right on the east coast. It was great, did a bunch of stuff including hanging out in Miami and going to Sea World for the first time.

  27. Amazing Spider-Man #630
    Batman and Robin #12
    Demo Vol 2 #4
Hellboy in Mexico (Or a Drunken Blur) #1
    iZombie #1
    Secret Six #21
    Sweet Tooth #9

BQ: I used to take time off and go to Coachella. I did that for 5 years and now I’m trying to find some other big excursion on which to spend my time and money.

  28. Batman and Robin

    Brightest Day

    Hellboy

Can’t wait for some new Hellboy this week, always been my main thing, and its what got me into comics.

BQ: Went to FL and Asheville NC this December, and I have an interview in the Asheville area coming up, which if successful would make my life a permanent vacation

  29. Astro City The Dark Age Book Four #4 (OF 4)
    Batman And Robin #12
    Buffy The Vampire Slayer #35
Captain America Black Panther Flags Of Fathers #2 (OF 4)
    Electric Ant #2 (OF 5)
    Glamourpuss #13
    Incorruptible Tp Vol 01
    Sweet Tooth #9

BQ The week before last, London and the Cotswolds, it was lovely.

  30. Jonah Hex: Welcome to Paradise and the two A-Team trades. Might pick up the Incorruptible trade too, but I haven’t read all of Irredeemable yet (anyone know if this would be problematic or not?)

BQ: Last summer, three friends and I went backpacking down America’s east coast. We visited New York, Washington, Florida and others. Was pretty damn awesome.

  31. I’m looking forward to Buffy more than anything else.

Last vacation (which I’ll consider anything more than three days off from work) was May 2004, San Francisco.  …  Helping my ex move.

  32. Some shiny new books like Astonishing Spidey and Wolvie, iZombie and, oh yes, new Killer.  Also Batman and Robin and some other nice stuff.  Still not sure how much longer I’m gonna keep getting Batman Confidential, the new story looks a little dull.

BQ:  Just last week…Croatia.  It was beautiful and relaxed, well recommended.

  33. Spiderman, Brightest Day, and Batman&Robin for me… that is, if I were getting any books this month (they’re all getting shipped to my home address, where I am not).

BQ: I went to Belgrade, Serbia for a week to learn about my family. Lots of REALLY good food over there, so I highly recommend either going there (it takes a bit of doing, what with the language barrier) or finding a Serbian restaurant somewhere

  34. Batman&Robin 12, Brightest Day 1, and Red Robin 12. I only have the first 5 issues of Red Robin(in trade) and that was good enough for me. Still, I want to know what convinced Tim of the fact that Bruce is alive, so that’s why I’m picking this up for once.

BQ: Spain, zarautz. Went to a surfcamp there. Tons of fun, surfing all day, partying all night. Even got lucky with a nice spanish girl:D. Oh, and also went to the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona. Yeah, it was perfect, I’m going back this year in July.

  35. Fun week for me. Looking forward to B&R 12 and Brightest Day the most.

BQ: Back in March my girl and I visited her mom in Tuscon, AZ for the second time in as many years. I absolutely love it out there. It’s hot, but there’s no humidity so it’s not like my usual Jersey grossness. Beautiful scenery. We rode horses, shot guns, and partied our faces off. Fun stuff for a suburban Jersey boy with a cowboy fantasy.

  36. New Ultimates #2 and Incorruptible Vol 1 – a shockingly slow week for me.

Last holiday was to Sorrento in Italy for my Honeymoon about 5 weeks back.

  37. Big week for me with 10 books: ASM, Astonishing Spidey and Wolvie, Brightest Day 1, Izombie because it’s a $1, Uncanny Xmen, Sweet Tooth (a personal fave), Red Robin, Irredemable, Demo (last issue was great) and B & R.

BQ: I went to Playa del Carmen in April with my GF. It was a great trip, but I got pneumonia when I got back, and I was sick like a dog for 5-6 days.

it appears there are a lot of amazing comic books this week. Glad there’s ifanboy & a Pick-of-the-Week to highlight the best-of-the-best.
