Nate Cosby Offers a Sneak Peak at Jim Henson’s THE STORYTELLER Anthology from Archaia

There is no book I'm more anxious to get my mitts on this year then Jim Henson's The Storyteller from Archaia Press. The anthology features tales from the likes of Evan Shaner, Tom Fowler, Jimmy Palmiotti, Marjorie Liu, Chris Samnee, Colleen Coover, and many, many more.

Today, writer and editor Nate Cosby shared a few choice images from the upcoming collection on his blog.

First up, "Puss in Boots" by artist Jennifer Meyer, from a script by Marjorie Liu.

Next, Colleen Coover's "The Milkmaid and Her Pail."

From the unfathomable team of Jeff Parker and Tom Fowler, preliminary work on "Old Fire Dragaman."

Finally, Muppet Show and Thor: The Mighty Avenger cartoonist Roger Langridge, "Old Nick & the Peddler."

  1. Why is Jim Henson’s name attached to this?
    Please realize i’m not asking from a contrarian POV – i’m just curious what this is taking from Henson’s work?
    Our Dad’s (mine and Jim Henson’s) were co-workers at the USDA back in the 50’s – and an interesting side note: Mr. Henson used to complain constantly about his ‘nancy-boy’ son and his obsession with ‘doll-babies’. I don’t think he lived long enough to see that bear fruit.

    @DuncanIdunno  It’s based on a show he created. See the link at the bottom of the article.

  3. I’ve probably watched the show too often but I heard hurts voice when reading that last page.
    And Jim Hensen’s name is attached because that’s what the tv show was called. It was never “the storyteller” it was always “Jim Hensen’s, the storyteller”.
    Why oh why can’t this be out now!!!

  4. @PaulMontgomery  – Thanks. I vaguely remember that show. It’s amazing the reach Jim Henson had – and believe me, he wasn’t exactly nourished in regards to his dream. McCarthy era GS parents do not an esoteric home make.

    Though I’ve never seen Storyteller (we didn’t have cable until I hit middle school, you see), the Henson name, this art, and the list of creators does interest me. Thanks for sharing.

    @JeffR  I see…

  7. This looks absolutely incredible. I loved The Storyteller when I was a kid.  I probably would have missed this without you Paul. Thanks!

  8. For anyone unfamiliar with the show, it is available on Netflix Instant.

  9. Jennifer Meyer’s art is crazy good.
