Meet and Magritte Chris Burnham’s Magnifique Cover to BATMAN & ROBIN #26

I usually hold back and post the best covers for a weekly roundup upon their release, but this…C'est magnifique!

Courtesy of DC's The Source Blog, check out Chris Burnham's surrealist cover to Batman & Robin #26, due out in August. Note the…ahem…clockwork orange.

We've got Magritte. We've got Dali. A little Kubrick. Maybe even a little Inception. And a whole lot of Burnham, which is the important thing. Superstar status: unlocked.

From DC:

Someone’s freed the lunatics from Le Jardin Noir, France’s equivalent to Arkham Asylum, and they’ll turn Paris into a living nightmare unless Batman and Robin can get there to stop them.

Sounds like a great issue, and writer David Hine is paired with two really exciting artists here. In addition to cover artist Chris Burnham, Batman & Robin #26 features interior art by the sensational Greg Tocchini (The Last Days of American Crime).

Vive la France!

Comments

  1. *slow clap*

  2. I’m disappointed about Hine, but the art may carry it.

  3. Incredible.

(I wonder if the issue will feature the McDonald’s and/or Apple store at the bottom of the Louvre’s glass pyramid?)

  4. Lol this reminds me of a certain Doom Patrol story arc

  5. This takes removing the log out of your eye to another level.

  6. @wangman31888  Was thinking the same thing. Wonder if they’ll reference it.

  7. Covers like this make me miss Seth Fisher.

  8. Burnham and Tocchini, yay! David Hine… mixed feelings. This is an awesome cover.

  9. If Mr. Burnham is reading this, then know this is a cover I’ll buy straight up regardless of the inside work (which I am sure Tocchini will do great on – I loved his American Crime). I’ll want a print of this please.

  10. Great cover. Looks like a scene from Inception. If the comic’s anywhere near as good as that film it’s going to be an awesome issue!

  11. @scherem  amen to that!

  12. That’s an amazing cover.

So I guess Tomasi and Gleason are not coming back? That’s a major bummer. Still, David Hine has been a bit of a underrated writer for Batman in the past couple of years. His Azrael work shows that…..I guess I’ll stay on board long enough to get this cover.

  13. Ah… paris

  14. Tres bien.  It’s been a long time since I’ve just stared at a cover for so long.  And I’m not even done yet.

  15. If only David Hine wasn’t aboard, I’d buy it. I dropped this title mid-Gleason.

  16. Now that’s a thing of beauty!

  17. Whats with all the David Hine hate? He is a trememdous writer. If only Morrison had half the talent he did.

  18. @ukblueky  if that is sarcasm it is extremely funny!

  19. @ukblueky  …I’m with Funcrusher, really hope you’re being sarcastic. I let out a big laugh when I read it but couldn’t tell if you were serious.
