Joe Quesada presents… ‘Marvel TV’

So this happened a couple days back.

Here’s Joe’s explanation.

So much for that show we wanted to do in Marvel HQ…

I would hope they use these to provide some insight and relevant content, but so far, it looks like they’re trying to cultivate the “wacky atmosphere at Marvel/isn’t it fun to work here?!” thing. But I can’t blame them for that. It’s certainly a valid track, and Joe Quesada does have a certain charisma I’ve seen in person several times. Let’s see if they keep it up.

Comments

  1. I thought it was hilarious, but along sophomoric lines. I hope they use this to enlighten fans about what goes on in the Marvel offices and less as an oppurtunity to do funny bits. I would especially like to see what goes on at the creative summits they do. However that material would largely spoil the plots of a lot of books and I hate it when that happens. I am not sure if I want or need this from Marvel, but as long as producing videos doesn’t lead to delaying Captain America #27 I don’t see the harm. However I gave up on their podcasts a long time ago.

  2. The best bit was Ed Brubaker’s shirt: “Rule #1: Bucky Stays Dead”. Other than that, meh.

  3. I think they gave up on their podcasts, too.

I enjoyed the show, and I’d like to see more like it, but I don’t know whether or not it’s good for me. Does it enhance or detract from your ability to appreciate the actual stories for what they are?

  4. I dunno man. I am a big Marvel guy, but a lot of times these in-house multimedia projects tend to be less informative and mostly propaganda.

  5. for the mean books he writes and the cool voice he has on the wordballoon interviews… I didn’t imagine he’d be so short….
I think it’s kind of silly, but it’s good they don’t take themselves any kind of serious…It will get better I suppose.

  7. Marvel has offices? I thought they communicated through some sort of telepathic collective.

    I’m disappointed.

  8. They all got together for this video, all that you’d really see at the Marvel offices is editorial. (Ed Brubaker works out of Washington State) but I have to hand it to them, that was pretty funny.

  9. Eh, kind of funny, nice they got everyone together for the shoot I suppose. A little on the lame side though. Dan Slott was the funniest to me.

  10. eh…well, it’s…eh. Whatever. yeah cool they got everyone together. Not nearly as funny as they seem to think they are.

  11. Not nearly as funny as they seem to think they are.

    Agreed, accept Brubaker.

  12. Looks like Queer Eye For The Straight Guy stopped by and worked with Mr. Q.

Well that’s just how it looked to me.

  13. Actually, the first thing I thought was, “wow, he’s looking pretty good.”

He definitely looks like he lost weight, which is sort of opposite of the norm in comics.

  14. is this up on the american version of iTunes yet? its not on the canadian one… 🙁

  15. Well, I guess this was ok. I felt it was kind of lame, but it was cool seeing all of those creators in one place. I don’t think these things will be for me because I have little to no interest in how Marvel runs their show. I just want good stories from talented creators.

…I love it when I’m in an apathetic mood.

  16. This is all leading up to the announcement that they’re gonna be on “Celebrity Fit Club”.
