Judd Winick talks ‘Green Arrow & Black Canary’

Newsarama has a relatively brief interview with Judd Winick on the future plans for the Emerald Archer and his soon-to-be bride.

Between the books talked about in this interview and the upcoming Green Arrow: Year One mini-series (as well as the rumor that Green Arrow will be back on Smallville next season), the latter part of 2007 is shaping up to be the (Half) Year of Green Arrow!

Oliver Queen has always been one of my all-time favorite characters and I am thrilled by the latest turn of events in his story and with the books themselves. Green Arrow was one of the best superhero books during the life of iFanboy and it looks like that’s not going to stop anytime soon.

I’m going to be picking up all of these wedding specials and related mini-series. Normally I am anti-comic book marriages because I think it can kill the romantic dramatic tension in any given story, but I am very much pro this one. It just feels right. And I’m really glad that Judd Winick is staying on to steer the ship.

I’m even excited for the return of Batman and The Outsiders! (Even though I’ll miss Nightwing running the team, that was a great natural progression.)

    This is Awsome!!!!! Green Arrow has always been my favorite DC character and he now has one of my favorite writing and drawing pairs redoing his origin. WOOTWOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I missed the Green Arrow train, but have read both Meltzer’s and Smith’s run on the title. I’ve heard great things about his Green Arrow work though. I’ve always liked Ollie and am definitely on board for the new Green Arrow/Black Canary run.

    What’s the deal with the Outsiders though? I don’t know anything about them, but what’s the significance of Batman taking them over? Or should I just wikipedia it? 🙂

    Glad to see that there will still be a GA ongoing. He’s always been one of my favorties. I am scared that all of this is a prelude to Ollie cheating. Marry him just to break him up. That would be awful.
