Hello, my name is Chris Arrant and I'm a huge fan of Travis Charest.
I first saw his work doing covers for DC's Darkstars and then was hooked when he started doing WildC.A.T.S. He's come in and out of comics like a phantom, with years-between new work — but nevertheless, I endure. And every once in a while, I get a fix.
Last weekend, Charest posted a new page (or should I say panel) from his creator-owned series Space Girl over on his blog. Coming out in drips and drabs of the past few years, it's irregardless one of my favorite "ongoing" series. In print its a rarity — a copy of the English collection from 2008 start at $110 on the used market, and there's even a black market for Travis Charest books out there with un-authorized books being sold out of Europe.
In print comics, Charest has primarily been a cover artist for Marvel and Dark Horse's Star Wars titles, but even then it's a rarity — maybe four or five a year. His last published interior comics work was 2007's Ultimates Saga which recapped the series so far with new pages by Charest and C.B. Cebulski. No matter what, I'm still a fan.
But it's tough.
The Humanoids book he had been working on for years (Weapons of the Metabaron, I think) was supposed to come out last week but my LCS hasn’t gotten it. I’m the same way, will buy anything he puts on the table.
When he came back recently to do some covers for Marvel I started having dreams of him and Gaiman doing new Marvelman stories. Dreaming, of course, because such levels of perfection tend not to exist.
@misterdestructo Have you seen this? A con sketch he did. Absolutely amazing.

awesome
@RaBoogie Yeah, I have that one saved on my computer, would love to have it in poster size.
I was hoping that they would republish the Moore/Gaiman stuff from before, let Buckingham and Gaiman finish the silver age and then have Charest and Gaiman finish up with the modern age.
And then you could tie me up and shoot me and I’d die with a smile on my face.
Want.
I agree. Travis is amazing and I’ll lap up anything he does.
His Wilcats was unreal. Grifter in Europe. ’nuff said.
Love the article. Happy about Space Girl.
My only caveat with this article is that ‘irregardless’ isn’t a word. But I have ADD and I’m picky.
Brattyben: Thanks for reading. I double-checked based on your comment, and ‘irregardless’ is a word according to my Websters here. It is non-standard due to the double negative but has been deemed a word by the “experts”.
Maybe wrong was not a perfect term but I know that it’s now proper usage.

Let’s call it a draw! LOL. Keep up the great work, regardless.
