IDW’s Chris Ryall Named Chief Creative Officer

Chris Ryall, Editor-in-Chief of IDW Publishing, is adding Chief Creative Officer to his list of titles as well.  IDW isn't terribly clear about what that means, but the CEO Ted Adams says, “I'm very happy to be able to recognize his hard work with a title that reflects what he does for the company, and I'm looking forward to working with him and his editorial team as we work on our 2011 publishing schedule.”

You'll also note that this is the same title DC Comics bestowed on their creative monster, Geoff Johns, earlier this year.

For those of you unfamiliar with Ryall, in his time at IDW, he's grown the company from an unknown entity to one of the premiere publishers in the industry.  He's working with a company who have turned ordinary licensed property into winners, and created long lasting properties like 30 Days of Night, which was turned into a feature film.  He's also done some writing, such as Groom Lake, with Ben Templesmith, and many others, including Zombies Vs. Robots, which was Eisner nominated.

My favorite part of the press release, however was the following:

Mr. Ryall served as the Editor in Chief for filmmaker Kevin Smith’s web venture before joining IDW.

Apparently, they didn't want to mention a site named MoviePoopShoot in their press release. I can't imagine why.

  3. @Conor-Does that mean you’ll have more sway when it comes to getting iFanboy: The Movie up on the big screen?

  4. @drakedangerz: Yes. And I’ll be heavily involved in casting….

  5. That means:

    Charlie Sheen as Ron

    Steve Buscemi as Josh

    Sean Connery as Conor

  6. You’ve just cast me as one of the ugliest dudes on earth. Thank you.

  7. Sean Connery is rather handsome I’d say.

  8. Steve Buscemi is indeed an ugly sumbitch.
