Darwyn Cooke Back for More Jonah Hex

Over on his blog, Jimmy Palmiotti, co-writer of Jonah Hex, along with Justin Grey, let slip that in June, Darwyn Cooke will be penciling half of the last Jonah Hex issue to hit the stands prior to the Hex feature film.  The second half of the issue will be drawn by Phil Winslade.

If you read Jonah Hex #50, you know that's something to be excited about.

Comments

  1. Aw yeah!

  2. If "Hell, woot!" isn’t already a socially acceptable comment, might I offer it into the lexicon?  Because Hell, woot, this looks awesome.

  3. Darwyn Cooke and Phil Winslade – in the same book – drawing a western? Allow me to quote akamuu and also stamp this one with a "Hell, woot!"

    Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaw!

I’ll say it again: Jonah Hex #50 was the best way to spend $4 last year, excecting an afternoon at Mr. Feng’s whorehouse out in Elk Falls or a secondhand Winchester from a blind prospector.

More is more and more is gooooooood!

  6. -Caleb The Time Traveler regrets selling his computer for that Batman Statue now because he does not know this is going to happen. Of course, his Darwyn Cooke vision will solve that issue soon.-

  7. That actually looks remarkably like Josh Brolin as Hex. Amazing.

    Really? I’m thinking Eastwood.

  9. @Paul: I can see some Eastwood in this cover. But I thought Cooke made him to look more like Brolin since this is suppose to be released along with the film….Or close to it.

  10. The right half (from our POV) looks like Eastwood.  The left half looks like Brolin.  You’re both right (not really).

  11. Eastwood? looks a bit like hugh jackman

    and yeah #50 was fantastic.

  12. Are their pencils similar or is it going to be two stories?

  13. Sweet, 50 was what originally got me to read Jonah Hex! So I’m lookin forward to more Cooke goodness

  14. What’s that piece of skin over his mouth?  How does he eat with that there?

  15. AWWWWWWWYEAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Freakin sweet!

    @TNC & @Paul: Definitely Eastwood.

  16. I’m getting that odd warm tingling feeling in my pants.  ðŸ™‚

    the Tiki

  17. The grittier Jonah Hex style is some of the nicest work I’ve seen from Cook in recent memory (err…well it’s a toss up between that and Parker, I guess).

  18. AHHHH SHEEEEEEIT

  19. when the FUCK are they going to do hardcover (like gothem central) for the fucking book!!!

  20. I’m digging this line work style that Cooke is implementing here.  I’m always impressed with the boundaries he stretches to.

Waiting thirty days for a new issue just doesn’t seem fair sometimes.

  21. If it was Lemire on the back half, then we’d have a gold medal winner for sure. But I ain’t complain’, no sir! I’ll take ANY pages of Cooke on Hex they give.

  22. @georgeXjr

    Just grab the trades.

  23. Here’s hoping more Cooke mean more Mounties! (unlikely…)

  24. Best news I’ve heard all week.

  25. Yet another Jonah Hex issue to add to my collection 🙂
