Dark Horse to Announce Launch of Digital on April 20

UPDATED

After a failed start earlier this year, Dark Horse's digital program is set to launch announce the upcoming launch date of their digital progam next week, on April 20. Dark Horse is the sole hold out of the major publishers in comics to not yet offer a digital version of their comics.

In anticipation of their launch, they're going to doing some giving away. To be eligible, you'll have to sign up for they're newsletter. If you go to Digital.DarkHorse.com, enter your email, confirm, and tell your friends about it, you might get free downloads of the following titles:

1st Free: Criminal Macabre #1

2nd Free: Fray #1

3rd Free: Abe Sapien: The Drowning #1

4th Free: The Umbrella Academy: Apocalypse Suite #1

5th Free: Mass Effect: Redemption #1

The more signups they get, the more comics they'll add. As of right now, they're about halfway through the second title. So get going if you want in. Also, and this is the big also, one lucky subscriber will have a chance to win an iPad 2 (16 GB, black with a black Smart Cover) as well as a $100 Dark Horse Digital Store credit. You could have a lot of fun with that….

  1. I like this.

  2. Can’t wait! I’d love to try out some more DH books and digital the way to get me to do it!

  3. “Dark Horse is the sole hold out of the major publishers in comics to not yet offer a digital version of their comics.”

This isn’t entirely accurate, right?  I mean, I just bought Sin City Vol. 1.

  4. with the recent DH layoffs, this at least is good news.

is it really holding out as much as “not being able to figure it out” kinda thing?

  5. Please note the update above – Dark Horse will be announcing the launch of their digital on 4/20

  6. Dark Horse has been selling standalone digital comics in iTunes forever. They just never had a store app before.

  7. @lifesend @WadebeforeSlade I’m whiffing all over the place in this article. Yet I accept my wrongitude. I own it.

  8. This is great news that it’s finally coming. Hopefully Aspen gets into digital as well soon. There one of the biggest small publishers not doing digital.

  9. With the release of the iPad I have gone exclusively digital, but not sure if I like having to use various Apps to access my digital comics.  I want them to all be integrated within a single App like iTunes.

  10. Been waiting for this for a long time, hopefully they pull it off by going out on their own by not using another matured platform like comixology or graphic.ly
