May 21, 2012 4:39 pm - Riley That's whats awesome about twitter - just straight up ask and sometimes you get a response. Its not like we know each other. Simple as : Zach ‏@zlbenson @JHickman did the Wakanda/Black Panther storylines get pushed back for F4/FF? JonathanHickman ‏@JHickman @zlbenson - yeah. They're 607-608.
May 21, 2012 4:25 pm K, I asked Hickman via Twitter and he confirmed the Wakanda/Black Panther storyline got pushed back one issue. So it will start up next issue.
May 21, 2012 3:31 pm I did a bit of looking and it looks like 606 was originally solicited as a Black Panther story... more research required... commencing...
May 21, 2012 3:29 pm I think that storyline is still coming.
May 18, 2012 10:36 pm I just re-read the current arc through this issue in a sitting, and yes it is much easier to follow when read back to back like this - but the question remains Why? did JH Williams choose to structure the story in this way. Even reading issues 6-9 in one sitting there is no obvious reason that the time skips are employed. Sure, there are a couple moments of "who is this and how did they get here" but the payoff is never really that interesting - not in the way its delivered at least. One reason (for the time jumps) I can guess is that he wanted to convey story beats for many different characters (specifically the story of Jacob and Bette) that might not normally fit in the flow of a linear story, but the separating of the Kate/Batwoman story seems unnecessary. I applaud the decision to try something new, but unless there is some huge payoff in the 2 issues, I think the experiment was a failure. I still think McCarthy is a very worthy fill in, but this book needs JH Williams back on art, and a tightening up of the story telling to get it back on track.
May 18, 2012 4:26 pm I actually like the interior art more than the cover. I'll give the first issue a go. I was hoping being saddled with Captain Marvel name would make this a bit more of a cosmic series, but Deconnick tweeted that it would be more in line with the previous Ms. Marvel (at least at first).
May 17, 2012 5:50 pm I hear ya, the only thing I can say is that if that last page intrigued you - it leads right into the very first arc of Hickman's Fantastic Four. But thats about the only thing for a new reader to latch onto here. As someone who has been reading since Hickman's first issue, this was very rewarding.
May 17, 2012 4:46 pm I think 616 Reed has the 3rd one (which doesn't work in our universe)
May 17, 2012 3:24 pm Oh no, I got that - I just thought it was an example of nice art touches - like the smudged swastika you mentioned. Sorry, didn't mean to make it seem like I was questioning it...
May 17, 2012 2:28 pm Also when they are on stage when Hitler is giving his speech, there are 3's on the suits?
