    @Kodaiji

    Yup...Totally posted that before doing any real research or watching it.  I remembered some blog talking about the song 'Solanin' and assumed it meant the movie already came out.

    And yeah, the trailer has a HUGE spoiler. Be warned. I saw a preview for an instrumental track for an anime movie recently, and they decided to show screenshots of the ENTIRE film on youtube.  Not cool Japan, not cool.

    ...And to double post (er... double comment?), here's the trailer for the Live Action version of Solanin, that came out earlier this year in Japan.

    I'm really glad you decided to do this Paul.  It's nice to see some manga on the site.  And the fact that you did two manga that are at the top of my reccomendation list is even better.  Not to mention that from the looks of your Twitter account, 20th Century Boys is coming up next.  It's where my username comes from.

    I'd reccomend the Higurashi manga series if you like psychological horrors, or Nana (with the caveat that you read the second volume, since the first is essentially two unrelated one-shots).

    January 10, 2010 11:22 pm In Justice League: The New Frontier Hal does remark that Carol Ferris seems too young to be running an air base.  I think this casting could really work.  Lively can play sophisticated really well, so playing a confident woman in charge of an air base wouldn't be too much of a stretch.  I always thought she was older than 22 anyways.

    This looks like it's going to be great.  All of the word-of-mouth I've been hearing from people who've seen test screenings has been very positive as well.

     I didn't think the trailer was very R-rated, but not really a family film either.  The opening shot of the guy taking a nose dive into a car, and the gun use didn't seem all that family-friendly to me.

    Saw this coming from a mile away.

    It was great.  After hearing about it for so long, I downloaded the issues on my iPhone.  Best $3.96 I ever spent.

    Anything by Naoki Urasawa (Monster, 20th Century Boys, and Pluto) is top notch storytelling.  Really good suspense in his stories.  Nana is also amazing.  I highly suggest you read it (though the story doesn't really pick up until the second volume, and doesn't REALLY pick up until a few past that).

    Another great one is Solanin, which is a slice-of-life story about twenty-somethings just out of college with a music backdrop.  It's one of the best one-volume manga out there.

    September 2, 2009 10:18 pm Hank Summers has been my main guess since the beginning.  I've heard Future Xander or Giles, but I can't really buy that happening.
    August 18, 2009 10:43 pm At least we won't miss a week of comics when the guys do their Year in Review podcast.
    June 29, 2009 6:23 pm Glad that Brian Lynch and Franco Urru are back.  The previous story arc was just painful to read.  It was like a bad fanfic.  Hope Lynch can bring it around again.
