April 30, 2012 1:46 pm BQ: I have a scar going ear to ear from surgery I had as a child. My head is also a bit lumpy. So I'd typically avoid shaving my head. That said, it would only be a few weeks and a guy could buy a lot of hats with that kind of money. Definitely.
April 25, 2012 8:14 pm My understanding is the MAX line wasn't just more mature but also supposed to be more grounded in reality. Punisher fits the mold perfectly but most of Marvel's other properties would feel forced and lose their charm when adapted to MAX. Plus several of Marvel's regular books are already on the mature side. I could see the MAX line as a place to try other genres but unfortunately those don't do too well when Marvel tries them.
April 25, 2012 8:02 pm On one hand I want to respect Roberson for standing up for what he believes is right. On the other hand I'm completely unsympathetic to what he believes is right. I still need to read the whole interview (though I'm not sure I care enough to) but I find the things he brings up in the quotes here, Before Watchmen and the ownership of Superman, to be largely inoffensive. If nothing else, he probably should have waited until his business with DC was completely behind him before commenting on it. Admittedly, I'm not really a fan of Roberson's work. I've tried a few issues of iZombie and an entire Cinderella story and thought they were pretty boring. I'm not sure if I would thing differently of the situation if a writer I really like did the same thing.
April 25, 2012 2:04 pm The only catch with the Nick Fury job is you have to get your left eye poked out. Otherwise, great retirement benefits.
April 25, 2012 1:47 pm Actually, that's a fine and straight forward idea. Forget what I said.
April 25, 2012 1:40 pm Agreed. Sometimes they try too hard to explain how certain continuity gets to a desired result (ending the Spider-Man marriage is a perfect example of this). The majority of the world now associates Nick Fury with a guy who looks like Sam Jackson. They want that reflected in the comics. Fair enough. Why create a more confusing situation where Nick Fury has a son who looks nothing like him and also happens to have an eye patch? So now they have a guy who looks just like movie Nick Fury but isn't named Nick Fury. How about Nick Fury needs to transfer his consciousness to a new body and it's this one (he has been around since WW2 after all). Or just say "cosmic cube, move along, nothing to see here."
April 24, 2012 3:50 pm I can't say anything involving Runaways after BKV's run ended held my interest so I'm OK with the title being lost. It is certainly a great concept and I'd agree that there's serious potential for it in film or animation.
April 23, 2012 5:53 pm Late to the comments, I know, but I just read this today and boy has it gone off the rails. I only have a vague idea of what is going on anymore. Too many characters came into play in this arc and time jumps are over done. I remember the first arc had a mediocre plot with solid character work and fantastic art. Towards the end it showed a lot of promise. Then all this crap happened. Dropped for now. Maybe I'll check out a trade of any issues drawn by J H Williams in the future.
April 23, 2012 3:30 pm I must admit, the last issue of Legacy lost my interest a bit. Gage can get a rather heavy handed when it comes to driving the themes of the plot home. That really turned me off in the couple of issues of Avengers Academy I've tried. Less teen angst here at least.
April 17, 2012 5:03 pm I'm sure this has been pointed out in previous months but it occurred to me that the branding of AvX Versus and AvX proper is rather confusing. To someone that doesn't know any better both look like they are called "Avengers vs. X-Men" or "Avengers logo vs. X-Men logo". Would the hypothetical new or casual reader know the difference if their shop didn't bother to explain it? I might even write Versus off as a variant cover if I hadn't been exposed to the original press release. I'll certainly give Captain Marvel a try at the lower price point but I'm pretty skeptical based on the interior preview art they showed.
