March 9, 2012 5:49 pm Really enjoyed John Carter, Taylor Kitsch is not the John Carter I pictured in my head when reading the books but he makes the character his own and Lynn Collin, MY GOD, going in I was sure she was gonna be the weak link but she surprised the hell out of me, I put her portail of Dejah Thoris right up there with Princess Leia. Also the musical score by Michael Giacchino is just fantastic and the ending was a really cleaver way to wrap things up while simultaneously setting up a sequel. It's not perfect my biggest complaint is at times it gets bogged down the tons of mythology it throws at you so if you haven't read the books it could be more then a little confusing but if you have read them it's nearly perfect. The whole thing just had a cool Indiana Jones meets Star Wars action adventure vibe to it.
December 13, 2011 10:43 am The Rock and Bruce Willis and it written by the Zombieland guys....I'd say that's a major upgrade on pretty much every level.
December 8, 2011 9:53 am Hope he made her sign a prenup because if things go wrong he doesn't want her getting half the batcave... especially that half with the giant coin and dinosaur .
December 5, 2011 9:04 pm But man hours for producing a digital comic and a physical comic are different that's the point. Sure the creation of the idea and art is the same but physical comics envolve printing and shipping, digital comic require nether once you have it made you upload it to your app store and you can make infinite copies for $0 you can't do that with physical comics. The real reason digital comics are the same price as physical is A) There are no advertisements in digital comics so they publishers loose that money and B) When a publisher sells a digital comic through apps on Apple's iOS devices Apple gets a 30% chunk of the sale price.
August 2, 2011 11:11 am Even though I am black I was actually against them making Peter Parker black in the new Spider-Man movie but I'm 100% for this. It's a new character with a new set of stories and if they wanted to make a movie based on this character I'd be all for it because it's much better then changing an existing character for apsolutly no reason.
July 29, 2011 8:24 pm Never got around to reading the comic(mainly because I don't remember anyone ever saying they liked it) but I enjoyed the heck out of the movie. It's weired seeing the lukewarm critical reaction because I think Cowboys & Aliens was a much better movie then Iron Man 2 on many levels but most reviewers seem to like Iron Man 2 better.

With both Thor and X-Men First Class making good money comic book movies will still get made even if Green Lantern is a complete bomb.

When I said "bold move" all of these moves happening at once. If the industry is to survive then you need new readers, to get new readers you have to lower the barrier of entry you have to make it simple for newbies to walk in the door. This means a reset of your entire line and making all your new #1's easily avaible on one of the best selling personal electronic devices avaible. Now Joe Blow consumer who just bought is iPad 2 and decided to download the DC app beceaue, why the fuck not it's free, now sees all these #1 issues right off the bat. It's a simple indicator of were the story starts. The whole concept behind iTunes or Netflix succes is if you make something easily available and cheap then you can build an audience. This is exactly what DC is trying to do with all these "bold moves", as I put it,  I'm not saying it's a guarenteed succes because their are alot of variables but it's a good first step.

Well if everyone invoiled in comics had your attitued then you'd certinaly be right but fortunately for the industry most people don't think that way. Comics are a nich martket but it's 2011 we live in an era were niche areforms can thrive. Comics will never be as popular as movie or tv but that does not mean they are dying it's not just one extreme or the other. Not everyone who doesn't read comics looks down on people that do and the success of comic movie IS and indication that this artform can continue to sustain itself that's why the industry needs DC and Marvel to make bold moves like the one announced today.

Your talking as if everyone who ever gonna be into comics is already reading them and that's just no the case.  And if it is the case then the industry is already dead so who cares what DC's doing.
