having always know many serious comics collectors but not being one myself I'm getting back into comics - mostly have trades and am trying to catch up from what I missed from the 90's and first part of this decade (Sandman, Lucifer, Fables, 100 bullets etc - I'm really far behind on everything)

Congrats! One immediate thought - have you considered adding an events tab to your main sections? You do get good support from the next upcoming comiccons on a regular basis in the form of advertising but it might be really great for the community if you maintained a calendar of as many comics related events as you could find - conventions but ideally also signings/appearances at stores perha...

Smallville - S09E11 - Absolute Justice

On Feb 5, 2010 4:45 PM

I've only watched the occasional Smallville episode and haven't read much DC so many of these characters are relatively new to me - that said, I thought this episode was, by far, among the best comics books to screen I've ever seen done (including movies) and was really fun. If Smallville can keep this up I may start watching it more often - really engaging and a great sense of past & fu...

Heroes - S04E16 - Pass/Fail

On Jan 18, 2010 7:29 PM

well I'm one of the crazy Heroes fans who watch every episode (albeit usually online so usually don't comment here) but I caught it on TV this evening. Really love tonight's episode though I still don't entirely get where this season is heading with just a few episodes left. Clearly Samuel is going crazy and doing bad bad things - but I'm not sure how all the threads will come together (yet I ...

Book of the Month - The Unwritten Volume 1

On Jan 4, 2010 6:49 PM

I read The Unwritten in issues and it is always one of my favorite reads each month - especially the attention to detail in the graphics from a series of amazing covers to the little details on nearly every page. I love that the whole look of each page and each issue adjusts to the content of that issue - this is art that tells the story as much as the words - and this is a story which is, dee...

The Best of the Week in... Covers (11/11/09)

On Nov 12, 2009 9:00 AM

as I picked up my comics this week I commented to my store's owner that this was an amazing week for covers - so many gorgeous books. I don't buy many individual issues but I was very tempted to pick up a whole of issues this week - on the strength of the covers alone. Not just the Batman & Robin issue but some of the other Batman titles this week were beautiful and engaging - as was the Pu...

08.09.2009 - 'G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra'

On Aug 7, 2009 3:00 AM

I loved it. And I hated Transformers (haven't seen the sequel). Unlike Transformers, the action sequences in GI Joe were engaging and well filmed - with longer continous shots. Some really cool chase scenes (I loved the Paris chase scenes - crazy suits and all). Now I should also explain that I did not grow up on the cartoons - didn't have a TV growing up, caught them rarely at friends or a ...

"You only think you like comic books"

On Jul 9, 2009 12:00 PM

heh. well I'm probbly somewhere in the middle. I was never a comic book collecter as a kid (though I had plenty of fellow geek friends who were - but here in the US I collected Dr. Who books & memoriabilia so yes, I'm really truly a geek) but I did read some issues from time to time - read Watchman (as a trade) a long, long time prior to the movie. In the 90's & early 2000's I missed ...
