06.24.2009 - Detective Comics #854

On Jun 24, 2009 11:37 PM

This was such a great issue.  For some reason, I was looking forward to this the least out of all the relaunched bat books.  Rucka was why I picked it up, and I'm so glad I did.  I had no idea who Batwoman is, and as people have mentioned so far, this is the best way to get to know her.  Rucka's character development is just top notch.  And I have to tip my hat to Willi...

Offical WHITEOUT Trailer

On Jun 17, 2009 10:09 AM

The trailer definitely makes the story sound more like a thriller than a murder mystery.  Even the narrator sounds like he's done trailers for horror/slasher movies. Excited about the movie nonetheless.  Loved Whiteout!

Woe be the Comic Recommender

On Mar 18, 2009 12:00 PM

This is a really interesting article.  My roommate from college actually asked to read some of my trades and the first ones I recommended were non-superhero ones.  He loved Y the Last Man, and it was a good thing I had more than one trade.  Then DMZ.  Finally, I ventured to hand him the first volumes of Invincible, and I was surprised to see that he loved them.  U...

Wonderconspective

On Mar 4, 2009 9:00 AM

The con was quite relaxing actually (well, relaxing relative to San Diego).  Even on Saturday, I didn't need to elbow people out of my way to get around.  Marvel didn't have a booth which was odd.  I was hanging out at Alex Robinson's booth, and he thinks that since Watchmen is coming out, Marvel didn't want to compete.  Then again, DC did have a small booth with very few s...

Still Reading, After All This Time

On Feb 11, 2009 9:00 AM

Great article, and what a coincidence!  My friends and I actually had a huge discussion about books and reading a few weeks ago.  My friend, who has a degree in English and loves Victorian Era literature, said that books will never go extinct and that she will continue to buy actual books.  Her boyfriend, on the other hand, was a Physics major in college and thought otherwi...

Quality vs. Quantity - Walking away from comics which don't deliver

On Feb 5, 2009 12:00 PM

This article really hit close to home.  I've been suffering through some weird anxiety over comics lately, and I realized, through your article and Jim's from last week, that reading comics has become a chore.  I decided that it was time to trim down my pull list, and so far I have been enjoying myself much more.  Although the quality of the books in my current pull list hav...
