I have to agree with the majority sentiment here: it just seems too soon.  Bucky is really just now grow into the mantle and learn what being Captain America means to him.  There's a lot more story to be told with Black Widow, Falcon, Sharon, and yes, even Eli.  To have Steve back, as if his return isn't the lynchpin to eventually tear down Dark Reign in the next multicrossover, just seems like jumping the gun.  I'd have loved to see Bucky really own Steve's mantle, and lead the MU against Osborne, have the MU take down Dark Reign, and THEN have Steve return to battle whatever ordinate threat is out there waiting in the wings to follow it. 

But despite the ranting, I will buy.  Brubaker does good, solid work, and the Hitch's art looks tight.  

April 25, 2009 11:18 am Being a Wiccan fan, I dug the relationship he has with Strange in this issue.  I figure he won't be SS, but it might rope him into the NA universe the same way Statue and Vision got roped into MA.

Also, and call me ignorant (please don't, actually), but have we seen Piper recently?  He returned to Gotham at the end of Countdown and swore to make a difference, and then we saw him in Rogue's Revenge.  Did I miss anything there?  He's a very interesting and nuanced character caught in a really ugly place and I'm curious how all the Flashes would/may deal with him.  Thoughts?

 

(oh, and if Piper appeared elsewhere and I missed it, would you mind shouting out where?)

March 25, 2009 7:22 pm I've got to agree with everyone about the interrior art here.  I was in a definite minority at my FLCS when Yu started on New Avengers, but I'll admit that his art grew on me.  This issue, however, things have just gotten, well...odd.  Billy Kaplan's face was distorted in 1/2 the frames.  And why the need to give him giant bushbaby eyes?  *shudder*  That said, I'm loving the Young Avengers attention here, and in MA, and in their DR tie-in later this year.  Maybe they out to just bite the bullett and start a series, with the amount of airtime over the last 2 years the team has gotten.  What do you think?
