One Way To Reduce Piracy: Improve The LCS Experience
January 18, 2012 2:27 pm I love my LCS but it is so incredibly crowded and cluttered you can barely move. The staff, however, is terrific and I get a whopping -20% as a subscriber. The two nicer, cleaner, more "professional" looking shops nearby are full of stuck up snobs who trail you around the shop and have such a superior attitude. I'll take my hole-in-the-wall shop any time.

Remake & Reboot: Dark Horse’s Super-Hero Line
January 4, 2012 11:51 pm CGW was fun for what it was, I think the major problem being too much happening too fast with not enough time to dig into the characters. It actually DID start out as an extended miniseries featuring all the characters divided up into four 4-issue arcs each focusing on a specific city. Dark Horse recently released the whole thing as a digest-sized omibus for those curious to check it out.

Comic Fans and the Conundrum of General Interest
November 2, 2011 12:17 pm My day job is as a choir director, singer and teacher but my other passion outside of comics is Disney - especially the parks - and believe me, that sub-culture has its own set of jargon, podcasts, conventions, celebrity and nerd-rage.

Remake & Reboot: DIAL H For Hero
November 2, 2011 12:00 pm If I remember correctly, there was also a run of "Dial H" in another DC series, possibly Adventure or Action Weekly where part of the gimmick was that all the heroes created by the dial were actually sent in by readers.

New Comics for 10.26.2011 is almost too old for TV advertisers to really care
October 25, 2011 1:03 am Whew! I'm a mere 46. You win. Been reading since the mid 70s and I have the longboxes to prove it. Oy my achin' back.
Lots of great books this week PLUS i'm still catching up with all the stuff I bought at NYCC.
Loved the first issue of the new Star Trek series - I hope that book sticks around.

Remake & Reboot: Strikeforce: Morituri
October 19, 2011 12:19 pm I recently came across this series in my longboxes while cataloging comics. I remember how with each issue I'd almost be afraid to turn the pages in fear of a favorite character biting the dust. It was great to read a series where "No One Is Safe" was actually a true statement! I think that is also a sticking point in making the book into a TV series since you would never be able to keep a lead actor in the show to draw viewers.
