December 6, 2011 2:00 pm Interesting enough it was through Comic books that got me into the 'super hero movie' genre. I started reading when I was around 8 years old (about 30 years ago) and have except for a few years here and there read comic books much of those intervening 30 years. (even Transformers...I remember the 4 part mini series from Marvel with fondness and may still have my original copy somewhere). My problem is the images on the current crop of comics are, while totally awesome and boobilishis, not really something i want my 10 year old girls looking at. I'm somewhat nervous about letting my ten year olds even look at a Witchblade issue let alone actually read it, and have you seen Emma Frost lately? For a 38 year old guy in the midst of a 20 year marriage I'm good with it and can even say that at one time in my life I had a major crush on Jean Grey, Rogue, and Storm but to let my daughters view these curvy women in the comic. Not so cool at least through my Daddy tinted glasses. It's not all bad of course, I did let my daughter read the first few issues of Marvel's Spider-Girl and she enjoyed it. I'm pretty sure one of my daughters will be getting Bendis's young adult comic (can't think of the name of it off the top of my head but I just saw it listed here on iFanboy). So it is pretty difficult getting kids into comics (especially the girls). Great article btw keep it up.
December 1, 2011 5:27 pm Storm has always been one of my more fav Xmen. I always thought she and Wolverine made a great item. But I digress, wasn't she also the leader of the Xtreme Xmen? (Which I thoroughly enjoyed) I'd have to go pull my copies of it to check but I'm at work.
November 12, 2011 8:46 am Very nice, a little to teen age-ish for me with the whole fight over the boys (I am nearly 40 after all) but still the art is excellent. Might have to give this a shot as I really need to pick something up that isn't the 'Big 2'.
November 12, 2011 8:39 am A most excellent cartoon. Had my ten year old twin girls and my four year old son glued to the tv. My wife tried to play it off but I know she was intrigued. All in all it was good, enjoyed the animation, the voices seemed to match pretty well and I was digging Aya. I think it's cool they're keeping it in space for now, give Clone Wars a run for its money. (as a sci-fi style cartoon instead of another earth bound super hero cartoon.) I'll b setting the DVR up to catch all of the new episodes on this one.
November 7, 2011 2:23 pm My concern is that we. The readers will need to purchase one of every tablet put on the market so we can follow our favorite comic. If you like Green Lantern & X-Men are you going to have to own a Kindle and a Nook? I just purchased an iPad and now I'm wondering if I shouldnt have gotten a Nook instead. (naw, I love this iPad) Digital is great (no matter which tablet you choose) but the tablet wars is not something that will help the industry move forward as a whole.
November 3, 2011 1:28 am I've been collecting comics for the better part of 30 years. But its only a small part of what I do. One also been married.for 18 years & have 3 kids. I ride bikes be it a 5 mile spin around the block or a 50 miler around the county. I love sports & pretty much whatever my kids are in to.
October 10, 2011 12:00 pm Step 1. Make Logan look like Logan. Check. Step 2. Make him bada$$. Check. Step 3. Open bank account and give Marvel my money. Check. Seriously, I love a good Logan/Wolverine story. IMO there is no other better/dynamic/moody/heroic/evil comic book character. sometimes he's written way off but if the writer sticks with the 'real' Logan/Wolverine there's nothing better out there. They've got the look down for this splash page now if the writing even comes close to the artwork being shown here I'm all over it like white on rice.
September 27, 2011 11:40 pm A couple of the characters I've always felt get jerked around from a 'Character' kind of way would be Emma Frost and Storm and then to a lesser extent Cyclops (cuz he's almost always brooding but sometimes he's super strong super hero boy and other times he's sulks around in a teen-angst, low self image slump). No one can get Emma quite right and Storm used to be this great strong character. She rocked the mohawk and was super strong and now no one really seems to get it right with her. Some will say that this is the 'evolution of the character' but I disagree, I see it as missing the mark a bit from author to author. Still, an author does get a certain poetic license so maybe we just need to relax and roll with it. ;-)
