New Comics for 02/03/10 have been trying to thumb a ride in Upstate New York for, like, a week

On Feb 1, 2010 2:51 PM

16 book week, which is kinda light.    BQ: I have done both. Once I picked up a hitchhiker, got him home, and got into a car crash half a block from his house. I thought that was absurd.

On Sep 14, 2009 8:00 AM

Liz Prince and Renee French are solid choices, The King for 3 dollars? Unstoppable. Those Jeffry Brown books are varying degrees of great. Me, I just dropped WAY more money than I have. <3 Top Shelf.

Book of the Month - Asterios Polyp

On Sep 7, 2009 8:01 AM

I think the ones calling "game changer" on this are those of us trying to make comics. I rushed through the last pages, dying to pick up my sketchbook and explore the new crevice where my brain had been torn. I found this utterly illuminating and inspiring.

New Comics for 05/28/09 could use the extra day, quite frankly

On May 26, 2009 1:03 PM

I'm fairly excited for this week's haul. Really, really loving Ignition City in a way I haven't loved much Ellis lately. I will buy JSA, but as usual I will appreciate what Ordway is doing more than I'll enjoy it.   BQ: Crucifixes, garlic, sunlight, etc. etc.

On May 12, 2009 11:47 AM

@Gimpace, same, I had designs on Unwritten and Unknown already, but Unthinkable was under my radar. I haven't REALLY loved a new series since Air, so I've got high hopes for Wednesday.

New Comics for 05/13/09 are dealing with seasonal allergies

On May 11, 2009 4:57 PM

Not sure if everyone's aware, but Unwritten is priced at $1.00 for a 40 page intro issue, so there's virtually no excuse not to try it out. If you are only familiar with Mike Carey's superhero work, I'd suggest you try this out, as I've LOVED his Vertigo work and LOATHED his capes work.   BQ: Bees (Beads?)

On Apr 29, 2009 12:00 PM

A lot of what you said, Mike, resonates with me. I love the fact that I've been with characters and creators for a long time. I love the writers and artists that I've been reading for a long time, and I love the way my heart can flutter when I discover someone new and fall in love.   The other thing, maybe the more important thing, is that I love the immersion in a particular culture a...
