Although I have enjoyed this mini-series, I have felt a lack of connection to these characters. Before this series I…

January 19, 2013 3:12 pm Congratulations on this great opportunity, Ron! You have provided me with years of thoughtful analysis and hilarious fun on the podcast. You will be missed, but I can't wait to see what your involvement with Image Comics means for the future of the most exciting company in comics right now. And congratulations to Paul! I have been a big fan of Fuzzy Typewriter & Paul's work here on the site (his Agent Coulson coverage around the time of the Avengers movie was so much fun) and can't wait to hear what he brings to the weekly podcast. Change can be hard, but it can also be great.
March 17, 2012 8:29 pm If those pages are from the first issue, she might cut her hair and ditch the mask by the end of the first issue/story arc. Who knows. Either way, I am intrigued.
February 10, 2012 6:21 pm Cool. I hope you dig it.
February 10, 2012 6:20 pm Although I am still lukewarm in my enthusiasm for Avengers Vs. X-Men, man, that is one nice cover. I love Simonson's art and it is great seeing him drawing such a high profile book. Also, from listening to him on recent Word Balloons, he seems like the most genuinely friendly man ever, which makes me like him even more.
January 2, 2012 2:46 pm I know it's cheating the page length, but I gotta say Fantastic Four #600. Almost a hundred pages of great art and wonderful Hickman story. It was pricey but I've already read it three times. No better value in single issues last year.
January 13, 2011 6:52 pm I think this story appears in maybe the third Essential Defenders volume. All of this Steve Gerber stuff is really crazy and entertaining. If I recall correctly, another plotline around this time involved Valkyrie being committed to an insane asylum and none of the other Defenders know where she is for a couple issues.
January 12, 2011 7:35 pm I picked this up because of all the buzz on the book and the prescence of Damian and was not disappointed. A very funny and clever little character study. Loved the two page spread with the crossing guard strung upside down while Batgirl and Robin trade funny banter. Being a standalone tale with a guest artist I don't if it gave me a feel for what the book will always be like, but I enjoyed it enough that I think I'll try the next issue.
December 4, 2010 9:47 pm Beast. My favorite original X-Men character and also one of my favorite Marvel characters of all time.
December 4, 2010 9:42 pm I have two off the top of my head:

SCARLET #1 excited me like no other Bendis comic has in a long time. It was great seeing him dig into a twisty crime story again and I loved all the experimental techniques he used to tell the story. Just awesome stuff.

Amazing Spider-Man # 647 was the finale of the "Brand New Day" rotating creative teams and it was just a great send-off to the whole wild experiment. All of the different writers and artists got in there and it was a blast.
November 21, 2010 3:22 pm The only ones I am reading now are New Avengers and Prime, so I guess it's New Avengers by default. But it's the only one I'm reading for a reason: Immomen's incredibly dynamic art is just page after page of awesome. Bendis is doing his usual good job with these characters as well, although magic is not  my favorite kind of story. I'm glad this arc is over and we're hopefully moving on soon.
