In a lot of ways, team books represent much of what I don’t like about comics – especially the first…

Hey, this Bendis guy’s pretty good. So, obviously another pitch perfect Ultimate Spider Man issue.  For me this and Chew…

Would it be completely counter to the idea of free comic day if a store did something like: first five issues free, next five free with purchase of 10$-15$?  I mean if all stores are capping issues anyway already, and ideally Free Comic Book Day stimulate sales and new customers for local shops, I feel like I wouldn't have a problem with my local shop doing this.  But I'm at least a little conflicted about the idea.

Mind you, I'm not looking for more books for myself - I have a bunch of shops near me I could go to, and probably will anyway just to say 'hi' to people - but I feel like this might be something to reward the shops a little bit for participating in the day.  Though, maybe the free comics should already be enough reward.

     I don't know.  Thoughts?

April 8, 2010 9:13 pm I like David Wain whole bunches, but tonal he's not the first person I think of when I think of adapting Alex Robinson.  Not necessarily a bad thing at all though.  I think I actually would totally dig seeing him stretch a bit.  This could end up being something special.

So far I'm loving the Marvel/Comixology and IDW/iVerse apps, but I'm not digging at all that there doesn't appear to be anyway for me to back up my comics locally.  @gobo mentions that Comixology stores your purchases so you can redownload any purchase at any point in time, but I would really rather not have to rely on any website like that when I'm investing as much money in these books as I expect to.

So far today I haven't been able to log into the Marvel app or the Comixology app for a couple hours and some features on iVerse have been acting up on my for a couple minutes now.  I assume this is just opening day server overload, but still, there's nothing to say this or something similar couldn't happen in the future.  I would rather not have to worry about it and just have my books stored on my own computers.

March 24, 2010 11:27 pm Dear Amanda Conner, please please please don't leave Power Girl.  If you could talk Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti into staying too that would be pretty awesome. But, very important, the idea of anyone else ever taking over art on Power Girl gives me sad nightmares.
March 4, 2010 8:24 pm You mean just the Lark cover or also the Azaceta interiors?  I wasn't digging the pencils early on in the issue, but when you finally get to see The Vulture in action, it started to feel like the perfect style.  It felt at those parts almost like a horror book in some sense; a lot of shadows and fuzzy detail. By the end of the issue I ended up liking it a lot.
March 4, 2010 8:19 pm Yeah, I get that.  I can think of a half dozen ideas regarding the scene set by that cover that I would love to have read more than anything that was actually in the issue, but I don't know hom much of that is just how great Amanda Conner is.
February 3, 2010 5:39 pm I'm not morally opposed to the existence of further adventures in the Watchmen universe, but It would never occur to me to pick it up if I saw it on the rack no matter what team DC put on it.  Even if Moore were to write it himself, I would probably wait until someone told me it was good before I checked it out.  Watchmen feels complete to me the way that Y or Preacher feel complete.  It's not that there isn't more you could do in those worlds, I just don't feel like there's any need to.  I have more than enough to digest and reread for ages already; and while I wouldn't begrudge ad hoc additions to any of these properties, I just can't imagine anything new being terribly compelling.
January 26, 2010 5:36 pm It's pure concentrated crazy that more people aren't reading this book.
