May 27, 2011 3:40 pm im about 3/4s of the way through this almost 700 pg. work and its awesome!
the way it mixes linear narritive with snippits of historic moments in japanese culture & polotics is eye opening.
im not a fan of entirely fictional manga, but how this pseudo-autobiography tells the story of the birth of modern manga is a revelation to me.
i'll be seeking out more work by the writer/artist Yoshihiro Tatsumi.

April 16, 2011 3:59 pm yeah i totally noticed the awkward kissing couple! i love how she stops kissing but he still holds his head there for some reason.
