Name: Matthew Kaczynski

Bio: I've been reading since I was 12, started with Spawn when I traded some X-men cards for a stack of comics.  I would consider myself a Marvel guy, but I love to dip into mature books and am a big fan of the recent push towards pulp crime stories.  Current and long time favorites include Daredevil, Amazing Spiderman, any Brubaker, any Joe Kelly, Punisher, Scalped, Y the Last Man, and Jonah Hex.Professionally, I'm a Marine jet pilot stationed in Whidbey Island, WA.  I'm originally from Michigan and went to school at the University of Michigan.  Go Blue!

October 10, 2012 9:23 pm I've got a chicken / egg question: Which version of the joker came first, Lee Bermejo / Azzarello's OGN Joker or Christopher Nolan / Heath Ledger's Dark Knight Movie Joker? I've heard that Bermejo started drawing it before the movie came out, but they are so close in image it seems like one had to have influenced the other. Any thoughts?
October 10, 2012 12:01 pm In terms of the Joker knowing that Bruce Wayne is Batman, the R.I.P. storyline makes it almost impossible for him not to. There is plenty of reference to Bruce being Batman with the Joker around and Batman runs around without his cowl on for a lot of the story. I think he know's but just doesn't care because it's Batman that is his true enemy.

July 3, 2011 1:08 pm @Josh: There is a great deal of cost overlap when converting a printed piece to ditigtal.  And, unlike a printed piece of work, once the upfront expense of a comic being made digital had been paid there is very little variable cost associated with the comic.  I would imagine publishers are making all their new books digitally compatible even if they don't get published digitially immediately; making it easier and cheaper when the time comes that they want to publish the work digitally.

November 22, 2010 4:49 pm @Amircat:  Are you basing the art on the cover or the interiors (done by different artists)?  There's a preview with some of McDaniel's art and I think he always does an exceptional job.  Btw, the title page in the preview says part 1 of 3.
November 22, 2010 4:42 pm It's rare for me to notice any bad McDaniel.  Unlike most pencilers I notice today, McDaniel actually draws all of his backgrounds in by hand rather than phototracing.  And I've never seen him skimp on large action shots, he has such a great attention to detail.
