I’d been looking forward to this, as I love Ultimates 1 and 2, but checked out during 3. This comic…

I was a huge fan of the comic westerns back in the 70s; Rawhide Kid, Two-Gun Kid, Kid Colt, et…

July 12, 2010 8:28 pm Was there an issue where Steve Rogers got his new costume? If so, I must have missed it. What's the deal with his force shield or whatever?

The only real disagreement I have with the list is I thought The Losers was awful. I'd give it a D, at best. Kick-Ass would also be in my bottom half, but I can understand why other people like it. Not The Losers, though.

I'd have GI Joe -- The Rise of Cobra on here somewhere too.

Ah, @thinwhiteduke throws down the 'ole "It doesn't look good to me, so you all must have low standards" argument. Nice.

Count me as one who is surprised that it doesn't look as bad as I thought it would be. As for standards, I have different measures for different things. A movie like this I'm not looking for the same thing as I am in, say, Winter's Bone, which is a film I can't friggin' wait to see because the book was fantastic. So unless something changes between now and then, I'll be one to go see it and give it a shot.

June 10, 2010 10:16 am Should have read the comments before buying this. I was hoping for the old style Rawhide Kid I grew up with. The tongue-in-cheek gay cowboy stuff is pretty awful.
May 24, 2010 2:09 pm I agree 100% with everything you said in this review. In fact, I've about come to the conclusion I just can't read Bendis anymore -- I just can't take the dialogue. This comic took me two tries to get through, and I can't remember that every happening before. Biggest disappointment in quite a while.
February 23, 2010 10:47 pm Doc Savage was basically the original Superman. The character has roots going back decades and decades. For those of us who came to comics as a replacement for the pulps, this is huge . . . if they do it right.

"Don't even think about it, Little Man!"

Great episode, Cap's my #1 Marvel guy too.

One of my favorite scenes in recent Cap is when he gets summoned to the S.H.I.E.L.D helicarrier by Commander Hill, who assumes he'll lead the fight against the anti-registration heroes, and he basically tells her to go **** herself. When the agents try to take him down he goes through them like nothing and escapes. That was a fist-pumping moment for me.

November 2, 2009 1:45 pm I picked this up after not reading Sonja in quite a while, and wasn't that impressed. Her already skimpy chain mail bikini seemed about 50% skimpier. This comic didn't get the job done for me.
August 31, 2009 10:12 am I just listened to the Remember talksplode at the gym this morning, and your indie-band-signing-to-a-major-label analogy comes to mind again. Only in this case it's like SubPop just got bought out by BMG or something. Not that Marvel is really "indie" or anything, but you know what I mean. My gut reaction is one of dismay, but time will tell. Mainly because I fucking HATE Disney. Then again, the things that Marvel has done to make me not really like them lately were all Marvel's doing, so who knows. It would be nice if it meant more money for the creators, but I'm sure they aren't holding their breath.
