November 13, 2009 9:33 pm Wait...how was this book disappointing? Because it just recreates the scene from the Blair Witch Project where Mike admits to kicking the goddamn map into the river? That's what this felt like, but I dug it just like I did the Blair Witch 10 years ago. Because you don't see it coming.
November 13, 2009 9:31 pm Every month, I joke with the guys at the LCS about how I can't wait until this book reaches its finale at #12. Don't get me wrong; I don't want this story to stop. Next to TWD and Criminal, I highly anticipate this book each month. But I get the sense that nobody's reading it. Perhaps it's just the sense I get from my store, but I love this book to pieces. How long is it supposed to go anyway? Did DC doom it by not putting out on one of their other store brands. Thanks, the Mighty--looking forward to #12.
April 12, 2009 4:45 pm I resisted Marvel Zombies 3. Then I gave in. Then I was pissed that I resisted. I'm all about wherever Van Lente takes this story. He turned in a good one. Extremely fun. Deadpool and Simon Garth are a great team.

I have gotten into this nasty habit of always, always checking the final page of each issue of The Sword before I read it. I guess I love figuring out how we get the cliffhanger image that the Lunas always leave us with (the punched-through jaw by Dara, without a jaw, was particularly effective). But this issue featured one of their best yet. I love this book.

Let me also say that I love that the Lunas have been creating these tightly-compacted and taut limited series. Twenty-four issues not only gives them an end-point, but it keeps their narratives focused without losing me along the way. Way to go, fellas.

This book is primo. Not reading it? Dummies.

February 16, 2009 5:03 pm Such a good issue. I love the noirish-way that Aaron reveals the grifter's fake name on the bus--such an excellent tone to this issue. I think it really shows a jump in Aaron's storytelling. I've been on this book from the start; been hooked for a while now. But man...this is was good one.

So the only reason this isn't a Criminal book is the superhero element. Thankfully, and thematically, it fits right into Brubaker and Phillip's style from that series. I was worried about missing Criminal.  Now, I'm cool.

Thanks, guys, for a good start.
