DC Comics, uhm, DC Entertainment Publisher + Executive Team Announced

On Feb 18, 2010 10:16 AM

If I were a DC fan (and I am), I couldn't help but be excited about these announcements, if for no other reason than what DIDN'T happen. A lot of people (myself included) worried that when Diane took over and they rebraned as DC Entertainment, then bounced Levitz, that Time Warner was pressuring DC to become more corporate. That could've invited a VERY startling change in the way the comics bu...

iFanboy Joins Forces With Graphic.ly

On Feb 17, 2010 12:00 PM

Fantastic news. It feels good to know a bit about both sides of this combination. The Graphic.ly team has all the pieces in place to make an interesting business and now that you three (and the rest of the staff) are on board, I can't wait to see what's to come.

I Am A Thunderbolt

Parker has earned my trust, although I certainly fear for the longevity of the title based on the quirky lineup (a plus for me) and the way other Marvel tertiary books have fared lately.

Pick of the Week - 02.03.2010 - Siege #2

On Feb 4, 2010 12:51 AM

Ron, giddy to see you pick Siege for the POTW. I didn't hate the 1st issue like a lot of folks did, but I did think it was a tad sparse for the first of a four issue event. But THIS ISSUE!?!?! Oh my, this issue was gold, Jerry, GOLD. We got great cinematic moments, from Ares saying "Osborn" to Fury telling Phobos nothing can scare him, to Sentry doing what he did (he rolls like that!...

"Career Move" by Josh Flanagan and Alex Robinson

On Jan 26, 2010 9:00 AM

Josh, congratulations! These days not much in the comics world takes me by surprise, but this one surely did. I can totally understand the excitement that must have welled up inside you when Alex casually mentioned he could draw something for you. Wow! Very nice effort. This would fit in perfectly into a Popgun Anthology, and it certainly opened up a world I would be happy to read more about...

DON'T MISS: G.I. Joe: Cobra II #1 with Christos Gage and Mike Costa

On Jan 25, 2010 9:13 AM

Who let that hack host a show? Sheesh, apparently Ron, Conor and Josh have no interest in maintaining their brand equity.   : ()       (That's my boy Chris! Nice job buddy)

I Traded in 50 Blackest Night Comics and All I Got Was Deadpool in a T-shirt

On Jan 22, 2010 9:28 PM

Jimski, why on Earth would this bother you? Are you being forced to buy this cover for $100? Does the fact that other people (myself included) like Deadpool really speak ill of the industry? For chrissakes I love Deadpool AND R.E.B.E.L.S. and 20th Century Boys and The Unwritten and Echo and Box Office Poison. This is the second time in as many weeks you've overgeneralized and sought to demean ...

Age and Comics

On Jan 21, 2010 9:00 AM

Mike...this article was a TOUR DE FORCE, my friend. Really well done, good for you. A lot of food for thought, and one of the most cogent missives about age and how we deal with it personally, and in our enjoyment of comics, I've ever come across. Bravo.

When S.W.O.R.D. Gets the Axe

On Jan 18, 2010 12:43 PM

When a book starts with sales of 22,000 and then drops 31% in its 2nd issue, it's getting canceled folks. This isn't Marvel not "supporting" Freaks and Geeks. This is Marvel pulling the plug on a show that pulled the equivalent of a 1 share in the Thursday 8 to 9 slot. If we're going to mix metaphors, let's at least make sure they're appropriate comparisons. Also, there seems to be ...

Pick of the Week - 01.13.2010 - S.W.O.R.D. #3

On Jan 14, 2010 2:23 AM

A short lived series, but understandable given how awfully it sold out of the gates. I enjoyed the story, for sure, but just can't get past the way Sanders chose to draw Hank. It's just impossible to look at that visual and enjoy this story for everything it was otherwise.
