February 7, 2013 11:06 am Thanks for the article, Chris! I've been enjoying the new characters in Hickman's Avengers - and I think he gives enough context to work with - but it's nice to see where they fit into the history of the greater Marvel universe.
February 5, 2013 6:12 pm Great review, Paul. This is definitely one of the early releases of 2013 I'm most excited to get my hands on. With this, you've pushed it even higher on my need-to-buy list. ... and I've never get tired of that "send up the white smoke" joke for Paul Pope releases.
January 18, 2013 3:56 pm Congratulations to Ron on the new job, Paul on the promotion, and iFanboy on a graceful return to independence.
December 9, 2012 9:50 pm Well done! Especially since RIME isn't exactly cheap, even with the discount. Good luck tracking down a wheat wine. And thanks for the kind words! We really do love making these pairings.
December 7, 2012 6:40 pm Glad you liked the review(s)! I haven't had the Mikkeller, but they rarely steer me wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bruery, Lost Abbey, or Widmer did a wheat wine, which should be easier to find out west.
December 7, 2012 6:39 pm I think they're both great, but in different ways. I get a lot more dark fruit - raisins, plum - from the Monster, where I get sweeter tastes like caramel and vanilla (from the bourbon, mostly) in the Pilgrim's Dole. Monster is a bit more English in terms of hops, too, with a more grassy flavor than the citrus of New Holland's beer.
December 4, 2012 6:53 pm I'm so, so happy that Cardboard made it on to this list. It's a great read (for all ages) and one of my favorite OGNs of the year.
November 17, 2012 11:16 am That is definitely a two-person (at least) beer.
September 25, 2012 7:25 pm Per Boom!: "Heidi, a girl born in garbage. Rex, a soldier gone rogue. The only thing between them and their destiny is an empire of a hundred different Earths, across a hundred alternate timelines. One majestic planet dominates them all: HIGHER EARTH." ...and Wikipedia: The story is set in a multiverse where many parallel Earths exist, one of which is Higher Earth: a world that has conquered 99 other Earths from alternative timelines. It is a follow on from Humphries's 2011 comic series, Our Love is real. The story revolves around a girl named Heidi and a rogue soldier called Rex. Rex is present from the opening scene where he is falling from the sky onto an alternative earth which has been designated a "junk" world. He is introduced as being committed to a quest of vengeance against an unspecified opponent. Heidi is introduced as a tough young woman who so far has only known the "junk" earth, where garbage is continually falling out of the sky. Sounds like fun.
September 24, 2012 3:56 pm Fantastic choice. I just read Spider-Island this weekend, and this stuck out to me as a great page, too.
