May 26, 2012 4:54 pm This issue was okay. It was mostly set-up, which is understandable, but there wasn't much tension, or any wow moments. The Van Helsings could turn out pretty cool, so far we just know they are kinda like the League of Shadows or The Hand, but I'll wait to pass judgement. I still don't know what to make of Andrew's plan, if he has one. I'm still on board, because I've enjoyed this book so far, and I really dig Sorrentino's art.
May 23, 2012 1:19 am Dude, good find. According to the copyright--Thanks Amazon previews!--, the cover of "Fragile Things" is an illustration from a comic stip called "Little Nemo in Slumberland" from the early 1900's. Wikipedia that shit, it has a very interesting plot concerning a kid who travels to the dream world, or "Slumberland" ruled by a guy named Morpheus. I guess it could just be a wink,wink/ hat-tipping to Neil Gaiman, but my curiosity is now through the roof; seeing as all of the previous covers have had a lot to do with what the issue's story entails. Well, this book is getting read first tomorrow.
May 21, 2012 10:42 pm I've really enjoyed this book so far, but I agree with you, that tagline/sub-title is lame. I'm stoked to meet the Van Helsings though.
May 21, 2012 10:38 pm After 12 books last week, my wallet is looking forward to a light week. Dark Horse Presents- More Francavilla! I,Vampire- Continues to impress, especially Sorrentino's art. Justice League Dark- Excited to see how Lemire does, my guess is kick-ass. Flash- I've really enjoyed this book, art and story. The Unwritten- War of the Words is over, whats next? probably more awesome. BQ: I don't understand the question, and I won't respond to it.
May 21, 2012 9:52 pm I love this series. It'll be fun to see where Carey and Gross take this, now that Tom has beaten the cabal.
May 21, 2012 9:46 pm That's great news. I had read in some interviews they were planning to do that, I'm glad that's still the plan.
May 17, 2012 4:42 pm Another solid issue. I thought the pacing was great, with all the different threads going on in this book, it'd be easy for some to get lost in the shuffle. Azzarello does a good job balancing it all. I agree that Akins was better this time around, especially the scenes in Hades. This is turning into a pretty long arc; I don't know how they are splitting it up trade wise, but It feels like this creative team has big, long term plans. Sounds great to me.
May 16, 2012 9:16 pm Hahaha! Yes! This was my first thought when I saw the article.
May 15, 2012 2:20 pm I would say you should definitey get #2. The fact that you read #3 already with no problems understanding demonstrates how great these books are written/structured; you don't NEED to know everything, but I think there is a lot of character development and story progression in the 2nd volume. In my opinion you'll get a much more fullfilling experience if you take the full journey with these characters. War on Frogs is the story that begins the epic that is The Plague of Frogs. Both The Dead and The Black Flame continue that narrative, while elaborating on the motivations and experiences of the team members. This is just my opinion, but I have read and re-read these books, and they just get better each time. I don't think you can go wrong reading everything about this universe. Hope that helps.
May 14, 2012 6:07 pm BQ: Long boxes and bookshelves, this shit is getting out of hand. Oh, and food, because I spend all my money on comics.
