Name: Kristen Johnson

Bio: After being a massive Marvel junky back in the early '90s (around the Claremont X-Men era and the launch of the first animated series), I lost my interest around the time hormones kicked in and music and ladies took my money. The last few years I've flirted with my local comic store, buying an issue or two every few months.  Usually something based on a license. But about 4 months ago I caught iFanboy on Revision3 and am now well and truly back in the swing of things buying 7-10 issues per week, but, I'm still trying to find my footing...

So, let’s get this out of the way; this issue was ‘beginning-of-an-arc’ fluff.  It’s fun and light-hearted and just a…

Even though this was a bit of a storyline wrap-up and a mid-arc lull, it was superb.  I probably even enjoyed it more than the Conquest fight itself (which gave me a huge chubby.)

Ottley's art continues to put it where it doesn't belong (in the butt.)

And just to wrap up a comment full of such innuendo, how could you not love a guy that uses super-hero tropes to increase the boob size of one of the major characters? Pimp, Kirkman... pimp.

Now I'm off to get laid, because I obviously have some things on my mind at the moment.

I totally agree with Romo.  I have always groaned at the idea of picking upa Superman book, but was compelled to pick up "Action" and then moved on to "Superman" too. When New World of Krypton (the series) started, I started reading them all and had them all on my pull list.

"You got me, DC!", I shouted, fist clenched when I adjusted my order.  And then Supes left Earth.  And they killed any interest I had in reading the other books.  I'm still reading "New World of Krypton"; it being the only title that actually plays through the crux of the whole series. The thing that actually makes it an event: Superman back on Krypton.  But like Mike said, the art really stinks and the last issue was real boring, pointless and made me think the whole thing is circling down the drain.

The guys mentioned on the POTW podcast this week that it was "a strong issue" and I thought that perhaps it's just me and I should shut up and keep reading, but thankfully I see that's not so much the case!

Also? DC really need to have, at least for the "Superman" title, an "entry level" friendly format.  Like Mike said, just like AMSM.  It, along with Batman, is their flagship title.  There's potentially a lot of customers being turned away by such a barrier-to-entry with a Superman book that doesn't have Superman in it.

Yeah man I can not agree more.  I watched this flick a few months ago because I realised it was 20 years old.  Still holds up. I love, love, love it.

I remember thinking though how it was so new there was nothing like it that had been made before (although, I personally was 7 at the time), but when I rewatched it, I noticed it had these looooong intro credits (which you rarely see anymore, save for maybe the Spider-Man flicks?) and they were all written in Times New Roman.

I'm glad this isn't on my standing order (even though it's supposed to be) because I'd be mighty pissed if I had to buy this since I already got the FCBD one.

April 20, 2009 8:57 pm Isn't this only a 7 or 8 issue mini?
March 31, 2009 7:21 pm This title's dropped off a bit last few issues.  The whole "learning to be a wolf" and the Invinicble crossover have been a bit of snooze.  I can tell there's big stuff simmering though.
March 30, 2009 7:05 pm Ah. There was no cover when I posted that first comment. Now I look like a dick.
March 30, 2009 6:21 pm is this an "After Watchmen" re-issue?
March 24, 2009 10:51 pm Yeah, where the fuck is the next issue of War Heroes!? Last one ended with a big reveal and then NOTHING for months now.
March 23, 2009 6:25 pm Did this come out in issues, or is this the first printing?
