July 10, 2008 9:56 am Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but most people I know spend hours in front of the TV. If you put a book in their hands, they might not know what to do with it. Comics are amazing in their ability to be both graphic and literature. However, they still require more work from the reader than a half hour sitcom or a 2 hour movie. The film adaptations of books fill in the space between the panels for the viewer, whereas the reader invents those moments.

My first car was PIMP. So pimp, it was stolen the week before my 18th bday. 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlas Cierra, lovingly dubbed Grandpa (mind you it was 14 years old at this point). It was a giant brown box with a plush red velvet interior. The dashboard would shake violently at 60 mph, the back doors didn't open, and no a/c (which is a human rights violation in San Antonio, Texas summers).

The great thing about having a crappy car is that no one wants it, not even two bit gang members. I was trying to leave school when I found a smattering of broken glass where my car had been parked. This was the part that pissed me off the most - the idiots had broken the driver's side window of a car that was unlocked. The next day the car shows up at the city impound. Gone missing in the incident - the radio, a can of de-icer, and a gym bag with my favorite pair of tennis shoes.

Moral of the story: you can't get a great car story without losing something in the process (like your patience, money, or favorite tennis shoes).

Well, it is a nice shade of grey (maybe I should go buy myself a grey guitar and play. *musical flourish* Mr. Jones and me...oh ... sorry, got a little sidetracked). Forgot to mention that the site is gorgeous! I really really love how you have the podcast and videocast posted on the front page. Everything is so neat and tidy and wonderfully, well, graphic!

February 13, 2008 12:30 pm Um, I still can't get an avatar to load. I tried one saved on my computer and another that I saved to my computer from the internet (and all I got was a strange grey box). The file extension names are correct. I'm not very tech savvy, so there could be something I'm doing wrong. Just checking in to see if anyone else is still having issues getting a picture loaded.
