January 31, 2013 8:56 pm People are saying I got into comics at "issue #" while completely ignoring thr Fraction never even mentions numbers. It's about the accessibility of content. Not issue number, how many ways you can find comics, or catching up. It's about how thr comic is written and how that hooks you into it. Fraction is agreeing with you, he wants issue 26 to be just as accessible as issue 1. This shouldn't even be debated. Also mentality of the community keeps readers away. Like thr guy who replied all defensively at the top or people going " well, I got into to comics THIS way that means anyone can." You're not everyone. Many people are looking for reasons NOT to read comics. Many friends I have still see them as childish because they are cartoons. Plain and simple. No matter how sophisticated. It's just a mentality. It's "not real." I know how dumb that sounds but it's true. You probably already had a passing interest in comics, most people do not. Fraction is just saying we shouldn't make it so hard to get into these. Just because we had to work to get into comics, doesn't mean it should be that way. Comics need new readers. Not fans of the characters but readers who actually pay for the books. That is incredibly hard and only made harder by certain writing styles and exclusionary mentalities.
December 12, 2012 6:47 pm Yeah, this has been great. Last issue starting "the Death" was quite good. Good pick. But i have to say...."BATMAN1!!!" ahah
November 21, 2012 9:41 pm I got this, haven't read it, I like Yu but the colors on the covers are a bit too muted in my opinion. I suspect the book is that way. I love Sunny Gho's subtler palettes, but I think this could be, lol, brighter. Still can't wait to read it, all around great team on it.
November 21, 2012 9:37 pm Hmm. I must have terrible taste, I like that cover. Quite a bit. I'm not artist or whatever, the shadow is obviously cast over cap but is solid on the facial region. Oh well, it as a whole looks pretty awesome as a cover to me. I haven't read this yet, but can't wait. Loved everything I've read by Rememder and the Pulp/Sci-Fi tone of this sounds fucking amazing. Loved Fear Agent, Sea of Red, Frankencastle, X-Force, most of Venom, etc. Uncanny Avengers wasn't my favorite by his, but it was all set up.
November 17, 2012 9:13 am any clues on how long it is? One shot or mini-series? Cover just has a #1.
November 16, 2012 5:27 pm Woodchuck hard cider is my "punk rock"(hah) drink. no idea why, it just fits.
November 15, 2012 8:47 pm I haven't read the bombardment of comments in this thread, but this is a bit funny to me. I'm pretty sure everyone with half a conscience knows those things are wrong. You don't need to tell them it's wrong. Unless anyone here is a sociopath, I think the thread was good without that lesson. and honestly, if a girl is in scantily clad attire you do have a choice in looking at her. It's may be nature, it may instinctual, but there is a decision involved. It's our instinct but we don't always have to follow that instinct. I don't HAVE to look at her, I choose to. I choose not to pay attention to a great deal of booth babes, even though they are half naked most of the time. I didn't come there to look at them, so I don't. Anyways this is personal taste, but I find the skimpier the outfit, the more unflattering. I find leaving something to the imagination, much sexier. Not sure why but I do, that's just me. There are ways to be sexy without wearing an outfit that Emma Frost would've during New X-Men. Not that there's any problem with dressing that way, but it's just my personal taste in....sexiness lol.
November 15, 2012 8:25 pm I dunno but cosplayers definitely gravitate towards certain characters, though I'm not sure if sexiness is a factor. I don't ever need to see a Heath Ledger Joker costume again and I love the Joker. "Do not read them." Damn, you told him.
November 15, 2012 7:41 pm Haha, I heard the word "hate" about these replies and I laughed. You guys are gentlemen compared to *fans* who frequent other sites *cough*bleedingcool*cough*. Calm down, nothing happened, it's not a big deal. Everyone was civil, no one called each other names. There wasn't any big argument really. Just friendly debate, really. I haven't came close to reading all my books, very big week for me. I've read Batman, Saga, Walking Dead, and All-New X-Men. My pick of the week SO FAR goes to Batman, unfortunately I guess from everyone's remarks. Not much happened, but damn did it build tension and you can literally see the fear on all the character's faces. This story is living up to all the hype. Snyder's handle on The Joker is pretty impressive. Joker, here, is the antithesis of Batman in ways he hasn't been in a long time. He's someone who has learned from the past. The dynamic Snyder has built between Joker and Batman is....just awesome. I don't have the words. Joker and Batman have been my two favorite characters since childhood so maybe I'm a little impartial but in my comic reading time, this is so far the Joker epic of my generation. This is the Killing Joke, the Joker's 5-way, etc of my generation (whatever that is). I still have to read Thor, Fantastic Four, Wolverine and the X-Men, Frankenstein, Locke & Key, Punk Rock Jesus, the Boys, Great Pacific, Jake Ellis, Zaucer of Zilk, Mind MGMT, Conan, and The Massive (which makes me 3 issues behind on both Conan and Massive, ought to be a good little Brian Wood catch-up hour).
November 8, 2012 8:33 am *little spoiler* you are warned... Lincoln shooting 'Pool in the back of the head was just plain brilliant. "I always wanted to do that!"
