October 11, 2011 6:33 pm @Neeks First let me say I enjoy these type of articles. But I also probably spend way too much time analyzing when and in what format I should buy comics. That said, I appreciate your comments here. Reading comics is a way to escape from the normal day and unwind. Overthinking it all hinders the enjoyment of it and in the woest case turns it into a chore.
October 10, 2011 7:32 pm I'm not surprised if that's what you observed (I haven't checked myself). The community here is no doubt a niche community within a niche hobby. Followers of this site could likely fall into "group think." That's not good or bad, it just is.
September 13, 2011 9:11 pm As others like Rob3E have eluded to, I'm curious as to what could happen to the digital product if a provider were to go under. As I understand it (I'm no expert), a person mearly "leases" the content to view. If a person purchased hundreds of dollars of books vis a povider like Comixology only to see them go under, would they be out of luck? I'd like to see one of the "comic business" writers on this site explore this subject.
September 13, 2011 9:06 pm Yeah, I agree that many of us already have way too much "screen time." Fortunately my job isn't in front of a computer all day like some. Yet there are still moments where I get sick of looking at a screen. Reading a physical comic does feel like a break from it. Also, every now and again I see the studies of how it's not healthy to spend TOO much time in front of a computer/screen. If I transfered all my current reading time to screen time it would be a significant amount.
September 2, 2011 2:24 am The preview pages I've seen do look great art wise and story wise I'm very interested in reading it. That said, it's going to take some major patience but I'm sticking to my guns and will wait for the trade. In the meantime, I'm reaching to my shelf for Mark Waid's JLA Year One, a story I recall being very good the last (first) time I read it and an appropriate book to read prior to the "JLA Year One" of the NewDCU.
September 2, 2011 2:02 am I think for those of us with families this is a good thing. Us dads should be more able to justify a trip to Wondercon when it's a part of a "family" vacation to the theme parks!

I love Previews! Not just to see all the books that come out but all the shirts and pop cultural stuff it has too. The industry gets more money from me because of Previews than they would without it, that's for sure! in fact, when I get my monthly comics shipment, the first thing I peruse is the new Previews. It's like being a kid in a proverbial candy shop.

As for the spoiler issue, I don't feel it's too extreme and speaking for myself, by the time my order arives months later, life has so much going on that I'm really not remembering said spoilers.

Finally, (running a muti-unit restaurant chain) I totally understand LCS needing to avoid waste at ALL cost. You really are talking about a penny-profit business. In business, avoiding waste is critical.
