September 13, 2011 4:13 pm I didn't think I would be into Superman/Batman or Red Hulk, but I can't deny me some McGuiness. Should be fun.
September 9, 2011 4:41 pm Something that I think gets left out of the conversation in talking about your LCS or comics retailer in general is the price of everything these days. I was on a strictly Trade-waiting/online ordering kick until I started to get into the iFanboy community and buying single issue comics again, just to stay current and in the conversation. The LCS in my area is great and pretty typical in terms of service and environment--great guys, great store. But as someone with a limited disposable income, I couldn't afford to drop the kind of cash single issue comics go for. Why would I pay full price for something I can get a reasonable discount for on a site like DCBS? I had to make the switch just to keep things affordable. Maybe it's an age thing, but I get enough community on sites like this one--I don't need to hang out at my LCS and spend way more money than I need to. The digital aspect can only bring comics to a broader audience. I've downloaded more comics from an array of publishers I never would've known about because of having to pre-order. DC has definitely got me to try out some #1 issues digitally that I may never have had access to under the current system. I think everyone should realize that comics will probably always be a niche market and that's ok.
August 26, 2011 5:28 pm Better yet, if you're having trouble finding something new and exciting out there, check out the quarter bins. There is some seriously crazy and nutty things that were published not too long ago that fell through the cracks. Seriously. Crazy (and sometimes great) stuff. And not always from publishers you've ever heard of.
August 26, 2011 5:25 pm Just put the gun down Josh. Step. Away. From the gun. Good stuff.
August 22, 2011 9:45 am Please oh please let him be part of the regular art rotation. I can't take any more of these fill-ins. Opena & Rodriguez to close 2011 and beyond.
August 18, 2011 1:18 pm You can tell when he's got a lot going on project-wise. This looks like someone dropped it in his lap last minute. I am interested in Disco Hulk back there though.
August 17, 2011 3:38 pm Wow. Marvel really put a ton of thought into these. Looks like someone half-assed it on their lunch break.
July 11, 2011 1:47 pm If anyone other than Immonan were drawing this, it would probably fall super flat (he's pretty much the only reason I'm buying it). Fraction is pretty hot and cold for me--I would say that for all the fanfare Casanova gets, the art is still the heaviest hitter there as well. I just don't get any sense of consistancy of story or plot from the way Fraction is writing Fear Itself or why I should care. This is surprising because on another book where the artist heavily photo-references celebrities as cast members (I'm looking at you Invincible Iron Man), Fraction is able to make me care what happens and really has a handle on all the characters involved.

Looks like Marvel needs a different architect for their event books (other than Bendis), or some other idea entirely to energize what has become a ho-hum way of approaching large-scale, summer blockbuster storytelling.
    June 16, 2011 11:32 am @comicBOOKchris  Was just going to say: http://jasoneaaron.blogspot.com/2011/06/thoughts-on-x-men-regenesis.html?spref=tw

Bummer. I'll still be picking these both up because I desperately want the X-Men to be good again and these two writers I believe can do that.

    Greg Land? Ugh.
June 15, 2011 10:26 am @cprevite  @Francisco  Sort of in the middle of both your opinions. My take is not necessarily that Lobdell or any of those 90's guys now have new books (I agree that Lobdell had some good X-Men stuff here and there), it's that creators like Brian Wood, Nicola Scott, Fraiser Irving, and many other great names are nowhere to be found.

Maybe there will be a second wave or something, but I have a hard time believeing someone like Brian Wood didn't have a great pitch for some DC property. Seems like more of a regime change overall from editorial than anything.
