I haven't read this series in about fifteen issues. I had no idea what was going on here, other than the basics: Danny Ketch has become some sort of Uber Ghost Rider and he wants to steal Johnny Blaze's Ghost Rider stuff. That sounds pretty sweet, right? Well they've made it even sweeter with this Tan Eng Huat fellow on art. His stuff is detailed, fluid, and a little bit like Leinil Yu. Definitely going to be paying more attention to him.
Excellent book. Surprised the shit out of me.
Conor was spot on with his prediction of a vague first issue with no answers, and that's what I was expecting too. Some cool moments in #1 but I'm more excited to see all this setup start to play out. I just don't see Morrison dropping the ball, especially a ball this big.
Please excuse my balls.
So...is the Dugan in this book a Skrull? Or is this totally seperated from current continuity a la Captain America?
Either way, I loved this issue. I'm glad that this arc is over, as I was getting a little bored in the middle of it, but this final issue totally made up for it. The art was worth the price of admission alone, with a beautifully rendered bloody battle between Stark and The Mandarin by De La Torre. Some of the finest art I've had the pleasure to take in in a while now.
Well, we're 12 issues into BND and, hot damn, I can't believe how much I'm enjoying the Spider-Man stories that spun out of the clusterfuck shitfest that was OMD. This book has been consistently solid for the last 12 issues and even the worst arc (in my opinion), with Freak and the soup kitchen and all that nonsense, wasn't too bad.
The only thing more surprising to me is the fact that I'm totally digging Bachalo's art here. I've never been too fond of his work but his Spidey is a lot less cluttered and confusing than his previous books. High five.
