Name: Shawn McLoughlin

I'm 28. I was an avid comic collector in the late 80s through the end of the 90s, but an unknown catalyst made me cease purchasing comics around the early 2000s, and even that was following a downscale. I believe I was only buying Danger Girl and Dawn at that point. A second mysterious catalyst made me start up again in 2008. Now, like most things I involve myself in, it has become an obsession. Not one that I would stop drinking or going out for, but definitely one to take time away from my other two interests; writing and film.

Other than that, there isn't too much terribly interesting about me. I'm an accountant, which means I need to drink a lot, and I tend to be lenient in my appreciation towards things, enjoying the finer things for being fine and being humbled by things not quite as astonishing.

I write film reviews for several websites the most active of which is www.dvdinmypants.com. Swing by and have a smoke and some lemonade.

I have an unnatural obsession with Milla Jovovich and Elektra (the character, not the film)
Oh, and I like cats.

NOTO FUN FACT: The only cheese that I particularly care for is cheddar.

BONUS FUN FACT: I was the lucky winner of Tim Seely's original art to the cover of Boom Studio's upcoming Jennifer's Body GN. The money went to Josh Medors' to help him fight the good fight against his cancer, so I got an awesome item for the ultimate in good causes. One of the best purchasing decisions I ever made.

The Great Amazon Omnibus Adventure

On Mar 11, 2010 1:51 PM

It's one thing to have an unsuccessful bank robbery attempt and another thing alltogether to blame the bank afterwards. I ordered $125 worth of Omnibuses, got nothing. Got my $25 from Amazon. More than I deserve. Amazon f***ing rocks. And no, Amazon doesn't owe anyone anything. Look up the Equitable Doctrine of Unilateral Mistake. The fact that they're giving you a credit is Ghandi-esque.

Gail Simone To Leave WONDER WOMAN

On Mar 5, 2010 5:21 PM

I'll miss Gail alot. I love what she's done with the book. That said, I hope for Rucka and Scott, but Sterling Gates would be awesome too since he's been killing with Supergirl.

Pick of the Week - 02.17.2010 - Blackest Night Flash #3

On Feb 17, 2010 11:10 PM

I'm still waffling on my POTW, but this one is a contender. I didn't read Flash recently except for Rebirth since I only got back into comics shortly before Final Crisis started. You brought up something that I am not that familiar with though. Has the "new" Captain Boomerang done anything really evil? The only story I recall reading with him in it was Identity Crisis which (I beli...

My Pet Character

On Feb 8, 2010 11:30 AM

Namor is my favorite, followed by Dazzler and Vampirella. Those are my pet characters. The Agents of Atlas nod is appropriate though because I've bought everything they've appeared in since the regular series started and bought the HC of the mini. Love every bit of it.

Didn't I already get a Green Lantern ring? How about a Brightest Day ring? (or White Lantern, or whatever it turns out to be) And yes, a Legionnaires ring too, please.

I Traded in 50 Blackest Night Comics and All I Got Was Deadpool in a T-shirt

On Jan 22, 2010 9:28 PM

I am the only person on the internet that had no interest in this whole promotion, until the artist was revealed as Campbell. Now I want it bad, and I have no problem paying a hefty fee for it. Anyway, I'm glad that 99.99% of the population isn't interested in this. It should make me tracking one down a lot easier.

Get Onboard with Image Comics in April

If Spawn #1 has a new McFarlane cover I might pick it up. I have fond memories, but I'm not interested in Spawn today.
