When The Initiative was announced, it sounded like a great idea to me. I thought it would be an anthology…

October 17, 2012 4:35 pm I'd forgotten about that. At least that lets me tell myself that Martian Manhunter didn't decide it would be a good idea to use the name "Bloodwynd" out of nowhere.
April 23, 2012 6:15 pm Still 6-fingered Cyke on the cover?
January 8, 2012 2:56 am I really don't understand what Marvel's doing. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like just yesterday they were quickly scrambling to go back to lighthearted comics after Civil War, Secret Invasion and Dark Reign. Now we've got the Dark Avengers back, Shattered Heroes and Super Heroes warring against Super Heroes again? Not stoked. Seems incredibly forced.
January 8, 2012 2:52 am Because he's a mutant?
January 8, 2012 2:49 am So, do you think we'll find out a year down the line that it's actually Stryfe, or he's posessed by the Shadow King, or some other B.S. to explain why he's acting like a ridiculous, overblown villain, full-on monlogue-ing and being a general dick, or are we going to just live with Cable being a tool forever? I so hope he goes after X-Man and Adam X next. Please.
January 8, 2012 2:44 am Disappointed I didn't read this before picking this up. What is Marvel doing with these .1s? After hearing how good it was on the podcast, I picked this up to see how Remender is going with these X-Force characters, figuring that the .1s were supposed to be jumping on points. None of X-Force were in this issue. This is setting up yet another X-book, and nothing in this makes sense with the last stuff I read in Age of Apocalypse. I was left confused, disappointed and had my interest in X-Force unanswered. Still, I trust Remender, so I went and ordered the first trade.
September 13, 2011 3:09 am I'm just being extra generous to DC this month. I won't be picking up more than 1/3 of what I'm trying out this month, if this past week was any indication. Hey, I'll give them a shot, but there's no way I can sustain buying that many issues every month.
July 21, 2011 3:52 am Agreed. Do not need the origin again so soon. Everyone knows they just changed up the cast & crew because they don't want to pay the higher salaries. They don't need to pretend like everybody's coming to Spider-man fresh and new. Just because a new writer comes aboard the book doesn't mean they get to tell their version of the origin story. What a waste of time.
I hope this doesn't mean that they're going to work the whole secret agent parents thing into the origin here too. Oy.
December 8, 2010 8:45 pm It's essentially just "These are the guys we pay the most! Marvel's got really good writers! Read our books!", but done in a weird, exclusionary way. These guys are all great writers. I don't think they need to do any advertising for them. They should be promoting guys like Dan Slott, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Jim McCann and Kieron Gillen. Even if they're not all exclusive.

I would have to say:
1. JLA: The Nail (with a Showcase: Martian Manhunter short)

2. JLA: Year One (with a Showcase: Aquaman short)

3. Batman: The Long Halloween (with a Showcase: Manhunter short)

4. 1st arc of Starman (with a Showcase: Stargirl short)

5.  JLA: Brave and the Bold (Flash & Green Lantern) (with a Showcase: Green Arrow short)
