I like the costumes.  On twitter Jim Lee seems genuinely excited about the project, and about being at DC so I would certainly hope he stays on for at least 12 issues.  Lee seemed to be very good about his work on the DCUonline, got out Azzerello's crappy crappy Superman story on time (I think) worked will with Loeb, so I think he has a shot at really wowing us here.  He also managed to get the first year of WILDC.A.Ts out on time.  So I will give him a chance on this book.  The kid's got talent.

June 22, 2011 7:33 pm @aloysha2011  I will give Morrison the benefit of the doubt for Superman.  All Star Superman was, lets face it, pretty awesome, and I have rather enjoyed the fresh direction of Batman, especially Batman and Robin.

I really couldn't agree more.  PG has been a bright light in a medium that has become overstuffed with dark, brooding characters.  It has also been rather jazzy that for the most part, those 25 issues haven't been overly concerned with fitting into this event or that event, and the focus, for the majority of the work has been building character and telling good, exciting stories.
June 15, 2011 12:56 am Is that a Jim Lee cover?
June 14, 2011 11:48 pm Millar is pretty hit or miss with me.  Nemesis did nothing for me.  Kick-Ass was okay, but I bought it more for Romita's pencils.  Civil War was actually pretty brilliant.  And I thought his FF run was pretty good.
June 14, 2011 11:38 pm I wonder what the villain line up will be.  It will have to be sick because, lets face it, Thor and Hulk are only getting stopped by Galactus or some similarly ultra-powerful being.  They will have to be occupied by some seriously heavy hitters themselves.
June 10, 2011 5:33 pm I like the new design for Supergirl, but hate the new idea.  Supergirl is actually a book that currently has its stuff together.

The Superman patchy jeans and converse and cape looks is just silly.  As is the new Superboy.  And why cut and run on the really fun Superboy that is currently going?

By Odin this going to be a hot mess.
June 10, 2011 7:39 am Well if they are going to have Harely dress like that I do hope they make the title for mature readers, and just go balls out and depict lots of graphic sex.  Because that would be the only interesting thing about this silly reboot.

I actually think that it is likey that they will revert back to old continuity in a year, or less, depending on how badly this flops.  They are doing this with Wonder Woman right now.   Her current story was an easy fix.  Currently there are several big DC stories that they are apparently uninterested in continuing.  The swamp thing returning, the Batman business, etc.  DC needs to quit worrying about the event, and start worrying about writing consistently good comics.  Their best titles right now are mostly confined to their b-list heroes (Power Girl, Zatanna, Supergirl, Superboy, Teen Titans, and the bat-books are at least generally interesting).  Write good stories, and give fans good art and the sales will take care of themselves.

@positronic,
I certainly hope it doesn't pan out for DC's sake.   This whole reboot thing is tired, and fairly arbitrary.  Geoff Johns is a writer who rather annoys me, and the fact that he seems to  be the creative backbone of DC annoys me even more.  He often fails to justify critical story directions with the narrative, it all just seems, "oh how neat would it be to throw this in there?"

The defense of the DC reboot being offered here, "back in the day fans changed out every five years" is really unimportant, not to mention thin and pathetic.  Back in the day hasn't been case at least since Claremont's X-Men days.  The fan base is older and treat comic books more like series characters in novels, and expect some respect for narrative decisions that took place earlier.  So the five year cycle is essentially a thing of the past.  Now readers tend to be long term, expect continuity, and good stories.
