July 2009 May Have Been The Best Month in Comics...Ever

On Aug 6, 2009 12:06 PM

I'm with you 100% on this. I've had the (somewhat rare experience at this point...) pleasure of sitting down in the morning with a cup of coffee to read a few pages of a graphic novel before going off to run errands, and just sat and burned through the whole book, totally unable to put it down. That happened a LOT in July. I would add the 2nd Mouse Guard HC to the list as well, it was far super...

06.24.2009 - Detective Comics #854

On Jun 24, 2009 11:37 PM

This book had unbelievably high expectations for me with my favorite writer, my favorite artist, and a (mostly) new high profile gay character...and holy crap it delivered. Loved it, and cannot wait for more. Great review Josh, thanks!

iFanboy - Episode #125 - Autobiographical Comic Books

On Jun 10, 2009 1:32 AM

Good picks guys! I really like Freddie and me, as well as Sentences (possibly because I am really into queen AND hiphop). Some of my others would be Stop forgetting to remember by Peter Kuper, The various peepshow collections from Joe Matt, the playboy, and I never like you from Chester Brown, The Fart Party from Julia Wertz, My friend Dahmer from Derf, Complete lowlife from Ed Brubaker, Carnet...

iFanboy - Episode #124 - The Audience Demands It: Deadpool, Locke and Key, Secret Six

Deadpool and Secret Six hold no appeal to me whatsoever, and these reviews did nothing to change that. I was planning on picking up the Lock and Key HC tomorrow, so great timing on that one.

The Audience Demands It Show!

I will put my vote in for Baker Street. I know there was a tribute to Guy Davis a while ago, but I'm not sure how many people have read the early punk rock, sherlock homes series he did. It's sadly not in print at the moment, but ibooks did a collection that should be reasonably easy to find. Or Mr. X. Also brilliant.

Artist Spotlight: Guy Davis

On Mar 10, 2009 1:30 PM

Guy Davis is one of my absolute favorites. Baker Street was the first "Adult" comic I read when I was 15 and squatting in a punk house. I even did my hair like Sam for a few years. It makes me happy that he is getting more praise, although still not as much as I think he deserves! I really need to catch up on the BPRD stuff now...
