May 22, 2012 4:55 pm Dan Didio stated, "...they are about to reintroduce a previously existing DC character who was previously straight and now will be “one of our most prominent gay characters.” It's the New 52...Still could be Wally West.
May 22, 2012 4:11 pm As far as DC's gay character announcement, has anyone heard the rumor that it will be Wally West?
May 21, 2012 7:32 pm @Paul - Thanks for the head up. I just finished the Don't Miss show with Lemire and I have to say, there was a lot more information gleaned from this exchange than I was expecting. It sounds like Lemire has some exciting stuff planned for this title. Great interview!
May 21, 2012 3:56 pm Hopefully, Lemire will work his magic and shed some new light on this title. Not that Milligan's run needed Changing, in fact, it was enchanting, but it never put me under it's spell. Janin's art possess a unique style that is to die for. His work alone is worth coming back for. *Question - Does anyone know if this will be the Black Orchid character created by recently passed Tony DeZuniga?
May 21, 2012 3:25 pm I'm predicting this will be heads above everything else released this week! I've checked out other Matt Kindt work ( Super Spy & 3 Story: The Secret History of Giant Man) and really enjoyed them. His recent 3 Story:Secret Files of the Giant Man, included a preview of MIND MGMT. The story was intriguing and the art style is unique and unlike anything else on the shelf. Let the curious side of your brain be fulfilled!
May 21, 2012 3:07 pm Just mention The Flash's Rogue Gallery and I go ape. That's why I'm glad to see Buccellato & Manapul branch out by including some Gorillas in the Mix. While the pacing of Mob Rule's storyline felt like a knuckle-walk, I must say that after eight issues, Buccellato & Manapul appear to be comfortable in their new habitat. I'm looking forward to this story with Gorilla Grodd. Some may not think he is as cool as Capt. Cold or that he blows compared to the Weather Wizard, but I disagree and would be willing to climb the tallest building and beat my chest to say so. Sure, I miss the days of old when Barry and Iris were married, but I'm happy with this new run and no longer wish to get our Age of Silver back.
May 19, 2012 8:12 am Although I'm a new convert to Hickman , the main lure for me was Mike Choi's appearance as artist. This was the first comic i grabbed in my stack to read and....WOW! I was not expecting to like this as much as I did. In fact, I was mad after I finished this. Call it jealousy, envy or whatever, but this is the kind of comic i wish i had written. Just an imaginative perspective in comic book writing. I read Hickman's other books (Manhattan Projects, Secret,...), but this issue of Fantastic Four solidified my respect for Hickman as a writer.
May 17, 2012 4:22 pm Considering the Spy-related name, the Spy-related gadgets and the artist involved (Noto), it's easily assumed that this comic portrays a '60-theme'...mindset and all. Mad Men does this perfectly, its shows you the times in which the characters live, including the awkward nuances of the period for the viewer to react. I had never heard of Benefit Cosmetics until now. Offended or not, this is free advertisement for a company looking for any type of exposure. Most woman who hear about this 'offensive comic' will laugh it off because it is a comic. In the meantime, the chances of them trying a Benefit product from an 'offensive comic' that made the news, is more likely and will be shrugged off as disingenuous outrage. In my opinion, the creators of Spy Girl are only accountable to their employer/client. No one is made to buy this (it's free when visiting Benefit stores).
May 17, 2012 3:13 pm Molly stated, "...I feel that this entire thing is condescending and I am frankly disappointed in Marvel for producing this steaming pile of crap when they have OTHER comics that are finally, FINALLY setting women in a better light. Are they trying to take five steps back? What is with all of this typecasting for women lately?" As per most corporate endeavors, this comic exist solely on the request of Benefit. Marvel wasn't trying to impress the average comic book reader/buyer, they were trying to give the client what they wanted. Levity was obviously their intent. I'm not convinced this comic will set women back 50 years, and, at the same time, I don't think Benefit was looking to make strides in the progression of fairness. It's a light-hearted tale that is to be taken as such. Shouldn't women's rights include the right to laugh at themselves and trivialities?
