February 1, 2010 1:12 am I love the art. I felt like I was reading a prologue or a #0 issue instead of a full first issue. I prefer to see stories progress further than this in single monthly issues. Hopefully it will next month...otherwise I'll just have to drop it and maybe wait for the trade.
January 5, 2010 6:21 pm Nice list. You should check out Moses Lwanga, the title character in Unknown Soldier. He's one of the most complex, deeply conflicted and multilayered comic book characters of the past year.
December 31, 2009 8:20 pm Definitely not one of my favorite Zorro covers, but I felt this was one of the best issues, so far. This series has been wonderful.
The villains on the last page look like rejected variant versions of previous classic Marvel villains, such as Doc Ock, Hydro Man and Shocker. Chances are, they're eventually going to face off with the coalition of heroes assembled in this issue. I'm sure we'll find out more about them in the next issue.
The past four issues have been great. I had a LOT of problems with this issue, though. Mainly in regards to Shuri's rude behavior and dishonorable actions. Now all of a sudden, I feel like I don't really know who this character is. T'challa appears on all of one page in the whole issue. The FF magically appears from out of nowhere to stop Namor from doing what? Killing Shuri? Was he really going to do it? It's just a shitty mess. I think this is a potentially very strong title that's currently going in the wrong direction.
December 13, 2009 4:16 am I'll stick around. I just prefer stories that are more "dense" than this. I walked away from this feeling like there could have been a lot more lore, or additional dialogue.
November 18, 2009 7:08 pm These were some of the best comics I ever read. I developed a strong emotional attachment to the characters. The stories affected me personally in ways that few other comics ever have. They also made me become more interested in the history of the Vietnam war. Highly recommended.
October 31, 2009 4:12 pm The regular artist is just taking a break. Since this issue is mostly viewed through the eyes of the traumatized child, the style of this artist works perfectly. It has a distorted, dreamlike aspect to it which I found to be very disturbing and haunting. It's a sharp contrast to Ponticelli's realistic style, but it serves it's purpose well.
