January 3, 2015 1:37 pm Espionage/intrigue stories implode when the audience has no hint of why a) the Big Secret(s) takes too long to reveal, or b) the Big Secret(s) is just a never-ending Russian Matryoshka doll, or c) the stakes the Big Secret(s) represents aren't very high. Compare BL to X-files and the problems with X-files are obvious. Orphan Black is well executed with amazing performances from the actors, although the writers seem to have painted themselves into a corner and it will be interesting to see how season 3 goes.
January 2, 2015 9:20 pm Please consider making the all media show more frequently (2-4 times a year?).
January 2, 2015 9:00 pm Season 1 was good..Spader in all his glory. Season 2 a mess, I cut bait.
November 20, 2014 12:02 pm VanHalen + Ray Liotta laugh = best show opening ever!
November 3, 2014 3:19 pm I think too many critics gave Seoule a free pass on She-Hulk. At the end of the day we have to care about the characters, and that never happened for me. I have a close affiliation with the legal profession and really wanted this book to succeed. If anyone cares for my analysis: http://comics-sniper.blogspot.com/search/label/She-Hulk
November 3, 2014 11:19 am Personally, not knowing the meta about the Liv thing made the pilot all the more interesting for me. Why isn't he going after her? I assumed she'll come back someday, and the how and why would be interesting (indeed, she still can, even if it's not the same actress who winds up playing her). Jealousy/rivalry between Liv & Zed over Constantine's affections, who knows. The fact that she didn't stay on the team right away was unexpected, and the unexpected is good. I didn't know that was a last minute audible, but it worked out for me at least.
November 3, 2014 10:24 am I have no background with the Constantine character in the comics, so for me the show was something totally new. I've seen episodes 1 & 2 and they remind me of Supernatural (when it was good) crossed with Dresden Files. Both were shows I liked for the characters. So far so good with Constantine. I usually agree with your opinions on shows (including Paul's Fuzzy Typewriter reviews), but on this one I think you guys bring too much Constantine comics baggage to the table. I'm not saying it's a *great* show by any means, but way too early to dismiss it the way you guys did in your review. Consider for me, how many interesting character questions there are: 1. How did Constantine get his knowledge of the "dark arts?" 2. How did he get damned? Why does he still seem to care about helping people? 3. How and why did he get to America? 4. Any ladies in his life? 5. Who is the sidekick, what's his deal? 6. What's with the angel? Can he be trusted? Maybe you guys know all this from the comics, but for me it's uncharted territory.

May 19, 2014 7:33 pm Curious that the majority of the shows are not female character leads. Female leads seem to be faring very well for sci-fi and spy shows the past few years (e.g. Fringe, Nikita, Alias, etc.) so I would have thought we'd be seeing more of that pattern. Personally I am finding the female heroes and villains on Arrow far more interesting and nuanced than anything going on with the male characters (same feelings about Agents of Shield). Not that Agent Carter was the best choice, but it could have the most potential.
