Are You A Comics Evangelist?
On Mar 8, 2010 11:35 AMI think trades have made it much easier to at least get people to try a comic. In the past I tried to hand 6 or 8 issues to someone and they would lose interest quickly but handing them a trade and they will ususally at least give it a try. I have had very limited success with friends and family. I haven't converted anyone into a regular reader but many will borrow something from me...

On Mar 8, 2010 1:32 AMI have no idea whether this will be any good but the trailer makes me smile and I will watch RDJ in just about anything and the rest of the cast is excellent as well.

On Feb 25, 2010 9:00 AMI've managed to stop the weekly book habit and only do trades but now my stack of trades is at least 20 books deep. Add that to the bookshelf of prose I haven't read the 300 movies that are in the netflix queue and it is no wonder that my entertainment feels like an upaid second job somtimes. I just want to make it clear that I blame all of you good people and all your "helpful...

On Nov 30, 2009 11:30 AMI no longer collect monthly issues so I am sitting waiting for the digital age to catch up with my needs. However, I do have about 15 long boxes of issues that I have collected previously. There are some things I would like to keep but much of it I would be happy to get rid of. I have been going back and forth on having the good stuff bound. It might actually increase t...

On Oct 29, 2009 9:00 AMReally great article Sonia. I have to say that managing expectations for things that we really want is difficult. At times we get ourselves so worked up about something be it a movie, book, television show that even if it is really good it somehow disappoints us because of how hyped up we have gotten about it. I know this sounds sad and contrary to a fan mentality but it is&n...

On Oct 28, 2009 12:00 PMMike I enjoyed reading your article as well as many of the comments. I have only read the first Starman Omnibus and I recall it taking awhile to read but I wouldn't call my experience with it a slog. I thought the stories were good and entertaining. It felt like James Robinson was trying on a new pair of shoes and he was walking around to break them in and get a feel for the charac...

On Oct 22, 2009 12:00 PMI've never bought any of the Absolute Editions. For most of them I already have a collected hardcover or trade and I really don't like buying repeat editions. I find that most of the Omnibi that I do have are pretty manageable. The Starman editions are very manageable and i would agree that the Jeff Lemire Essex County and Local Deluxe HC are an excellent size and managea...
